If i drop a 94 LS engine in my car and go to a smog ref and get everything taken care of and get a Bar sticker Do you think I could buy a 94 LS Greddy Turbo kit and Still Pass smog with the 94 engine?
Did your 94 engine already get passed by the ref? If so, it may work…
I dont have a 94 engine… I was just thinking It might work… I want to boost but i want to be legal at the samn time 
What year is your car now? If your pre-OBD, and you use an OBD engine, your gonna have to show the ref that all the emmision sensors are hooked up. Things beyond the ECU like the Fuel pump are small things that I hear will screw you from being legit. My advice would be to build your current engine, install the turbo, keep all your OE parts, ie header, intake piping, etc and when time comes for SMOG, remove the Turbo stuff-return the car to stock for inspection = good to go for 2 more years…

I’m doing this right now, putting on all my stock stuff for a smog check. I have never for in my life been so pissed off at my car. I’m sick to death of this Nazi CARB smog check KKKalifornia CRAP!!! I’ve come close to getting my shot gun and blowing a hole thru the gas tank then throwing a molitov in…
So having an inline fuel pump will get me failed on the smog check? Why? That’s sucks…I’m moving…
I have a 92 it is obd1 and so is the 94 95 ls (I belive) so it would be simple thing to have the ref pass me right?
I want to do it this way cause i dont want to be in Haberdasher’s Spot… I thaught about it and it might end up being that way but it would be nice to be Legal

I don’t think there is any way to make any turbo system legal in CA. Look at it this way…will you pass smog with a nonCARB approved header? The smog Nazis look at a turbo as a nonCARB approved header. It blows…I now…the way it should be is that if you pass emissions you should be all good…

Technically the CARB EO granted to the GReddy turbo is only meant for an LS motor in a DC chassis. So if you go out and modify the piping or anything else… the ref is SUPPOSED to fail you on the spot. 
im sorry buddy but there is no way you can pass smog with a turbocharged for our cars in cali…legally…

my car passed smog on thursday BTW…but blew the transmission to shiot on the way home from the smog station…I won’t be driving my car for 6 weeks…just checking in
What happend to the tranny? And what you gonna replace it with?
I need to get a new tranny my self but kinda dont know about it because what if i buy one and it isjust as bad or worse then mine then i waisted time and money

Dave, didn’t you unbolt your turbo first, though? I think the point is, LEGALLY you won’t pass a turbo in a DA chassis.

Just wondering what would happen if you tried to smog (since we’re in the topic) a car with a swap and got caught? Would they send you to a ref and notify the DMV or anything?
I already know what would happen if you don’t get caught hehe.

If your friendly neighborhood law enforcement agent decides to write you a ticket for illegal smog device modifications you will be forced to make an appointment with a smog referee and DMV will be notified that your car is not legal for driving on public streets until your car is inspected. GAY!
