after a few years out...just got a beat 93 gs

After not having a g2 project for a few years I just picked up a pretty beat shell…93 gs no motor or tranny and a few other things…lots of dents an jacked paint…but has coilovers and one piece lights. Good thing my neighbor is magic with bodywork and paint! Ill start an on going build thread soon…glad to be back!

well I guess I let the bug bite me… I found a 91 with front end damage for 400 bucks a few nights ago…drove it 15 miles home trying not to over heat it too bad…way cleaner than the 93 other than the front end…but it’s an RS, so I’ll see what I can swap comfort wise from the GS (power windows…cruise control etc…) definitely the radiator support and one piece lights!

nice.

good luck, having a car all patched up is a lot less gratifying than a shell thats not got 10lbs of bondo in it.

I know these pics really suck, and linking them from image shack really sucks…but either my comp or g2ic isn’t letting me upload via the g2ic server…probably my computer…its 7 years old and just about ready to be put out to pasture :frowning: anyway…you guys get the idea…i’d love to swap out all the black interior pieces into the RS cause I hate the blue…but the seats in the GS have seen better days. Anyone swapped out a GS steering column with an RS? I want the cruise control, but I don’t know if the RS has what it needs in the harness, and don’t necessarily feel like splitting the GS harness. Can I take all the insides from the GS doors, and swap them out with the RS without having to use the black doors on my white RS? Power mirrors and all? HAHA you guys will be sick of me in a week. I’ll probably get lazy, and keep the manual windows, no cruise control and just go for a weight reduction with AC delete, and all that jazz. One more question: by the time I’m done with the GS shell It will not be sellable…a scrap yard would come get it for the metal right??

ordered a haynes manual and used/guaranteed radiator on fleabay…also banged and pulled out the rad support last night, and removed old busted radiator. I just need to get her all road legal and running first to prove to the wife I did not just buy it to play with!

Anyway I went out to move the rs back in the driveway after my kids bday party and it wont start…turns over and kind of thumps like it is not timing right…hopefully I will find a wet distributor and not something worse.

haha the rs is all bad! I pulled the plugs out and they were fully oil soaked and I could see oil all in the cylinders…at least the two middle. so I put a rag over the spark plug holes and turned her over a few times and bingo! volcanic eruption of oil/water milkshake! the dipstick still looked normal so i guess the water was on top? anyway now to figure out if it’s a gasket or a crack right? anyone have a logical next step?

meanwhile, anyone have any suggestions as to what to look for next…i’m already calling around for used engines thinking I have a cracked block. If it is indeed cracked then maybe I will pull the motor and work on interior and body/suspension for a few months and piece together a decent motor.

Low-comp B20 + used turbo setup @ low psi = 1000 dollar, 200+whp turbo fun. you could just start with the B20 and run it NA just to get it on the road.

that is an awesome idea :slight_smile: even though ive had like 6 2nd gens Ive never had to pull a motor so this should be interesting. I’d also like to swap in a radiator support from the 93 in the garage, but I’m so limited on time I’m tempted to just see how everything lines up with the tweaking I did to the original to get it somewhat straight.
