AFTERMATH1312 jasper green

Yes, Some of my molding had little scuffs and I filled them with body filler. First sanded the plastic/molding and then added the filler on the places that were needed. Sanded more and sprayed black primer. After the primer I sanded with 800grid and spray the trim paint. The only thing I didn’t paint was the door window trim since they were only faded from t he sun and water damage. I used some glass polish (3m brand) and polished the moldings. They came out great. Ill take pictures of them so you can see them. Also after 4 years the moldings are still in good shape.

My door molding had abumch of dents. Im guessing parking door dents and I did the same process. Sand, body filler, sand primer and then color match to the car. A few times people have hit the moldings while im parked and so far they haven cracked or scratch from the impacts.

I have new JDM moldings that I’d install if I get the car painted so it was mainly window trim/moldings that would be my concern.

I did the same for all of the moldings including the window trim. Quarter windows, roof rain gutters, and for any plastic thati wanted to be “oem” color.

So regular body filler will work just fine on the trim? Good to know!

Yes, just don’t used it on the trim that has the rubber coating like the door window, lower trim on the quarter window, and the one that goes on top of the door window once the door is closed.

great build! i also have an arc box, but the filter is all worn. what filter did you use to replace yours with?

Thanks, I used a k&n filter from a 99 f-150. I had to trim/cut some off the filter to make it the correct size.

Got a little more time to work on the mirrors. They are almost ready for paint.

Nice updates in here man… I’m liking it

thanks unified112

not an update for I found two photos of my transmission when I did the gsr s80 internals swap, cleaned, painted and celar coated the transmission.

I clean the bolts with a wire brush and got rid of the zinc plating. I had previously on other bolts done the same thing and after a few days the bolts would turn black and rust would form. That’s the reason why I opted to just paint them with the transmission. This was done before any fancy bolts were available to purchase. Ill replace the bolts later.

That’s strange that the brush removed the zinc - that’s never happened to me and I’ve cleaned a shit ton of bolts. I lucked out recently and had a bunch of hardware zinc’d. I’m sorta kicking myself for not having a lot more of my spare hardware done just so I’d have it for later use if I needed it.

Is your block painted too? I always liked how the paint looked in photos and when I finally saw one in person I was really disappointed (plus I tested out some paint on some of my own parts and wasn’t happy). I was cleaning my block just a few days ago and it really wasn’t going well, I spent hours cleaning and there wasn’t much improvement at all. I almost broke down and painted the block but after trying some new techniques and spending some more time I manged to get it looking good enough. I like that you cleared yours though, that’s gotta make the paint last a lot longer, plus cleaning is probably a breeze compared to the paint by itself.

I was using the electric wire brush. That thing cleans them up really good. Too good. lol

Those bolts look brand new  im jealous.
Yes I painted my block after I cleaned it completely. It took me a while to find a nice color. I don’t think they offer it or sale it anymore.

The color was actually pretty close to the original finish of the block. I just sprayed it a light coat to get the whol;e block to look even and not patchy. No matter how much I cleaned, some of the areas on the block didn’t have the same color/tone as the other ones.

EDIT: the clear coat on the transmission makes it a lot easier to clean it. I simply spray degreaser and water hose the transmission to see everything falls off. Then I get a towel and wipe off the water

BTW: You don’t have a build thread right? I see photos here and there but that’s about it.

The paint that a lot of guys use is an Eastwood product called Alumablast. Pretty good stuff, I try to keep some on hand as it comes in handy even just to touch up aluminum parts opposed to full blown paint. I’ve never cleared over any of this stuff though. And no, I don’t have a build thread. I’ve thought about it, but have opted to stay under the radar and just share w/ a select few here and there. I do have tons of photos on my Flickr though.

People would learn a lot from a build thread if you made one… But I totally understand the choice not to. This is the only site I have a build on.

Fuuuuhhhh those bolts look so nice… I’m jelly for sure.

Both of you guys have very clean setups. I simply degreased mine… Then had everything hot-tanked and called it a day lol.

You guys provide motivation for me to step my game up a notch… keep it up!

Is the link public or private. Would like to see some photos of your build. If so send the link to my email address aftermath1312@yahoo.com

This is the paint I used on the block. Dupli Color DE1615 Ceramic Aluminum Engine. For the transmission I used a regular silver I had made for one of the valve covers.

EDIT: I agree with unified112. I will learn some good information from your thread Colin. I haven’t been active in this forum for a while. I made this thread because a few friends of mine kept on bugging me to make it for people to learn or get new ideas. This is also my only build thread that I have. I decide to do it here since it is only a second generation integra forum. I figure its best to share my thread.

My thoughts exactly. So many people cut corners, half-ass stuff, or just don’t focus on all the small details that make or break a build. It’s refreshing to see someone put this much attention to detail into their work and it makes me really want to have something of this caliber when I’m finished.

Anyways, love the stuff both of you are doing!

Cleaning up hardware sucks I did every bolt in my bay and my work wheels by hand. I used a wire brush on some of them and they turned out great but since my car hasn’t seen weather in a few years I don’t know if it affected the finish. Anyway looking forward to more updates.

Thanks guys.

Have a few photos to show. Finally took the lip off to paint it and take some pictures of the back section were I fiberglass the end caps of the lip. Also, I was wondering about the fitment on these mirrors as we all know replica parts are bad with fitment but oh man was I surprised with them. THEY $UCK big time. Everything is out of place and needs to be cut, bend, and trim. See the pictures below. Lastly I brought down my RS*R catback to do some repairs to the piping (cracks.)

Here you go Colin…

The fitment of the mirror base.

Check out the height of the mirror. This thing is way high up. I will modified the arm so I can position the mirror lower and closer to the pillar.

Lip already painted

The bare b17 block waiting to get built. My plans for this motor are to go turbo or nitrous. hp goal is 400whp. First I need to run the VIN number through CHP to see if it doesn’t come out to be stolen. I bought this long block from PICK-YOUR-PART, but I still want to double check to see if its a clean VIN before I spend money on the block.

The spared b16 trans that i’m debating to put in the integra with my current lsv engine.

This is just to show some work I did during the weekend. Restore a carbon fiber hood for a friend. This hodd was in really bad condition. Someone had rattle canned rainbow flake clear.

Completely wet sanded and ready for the clear

Clear coated

Looks good! Thanks for those pics too. As for the trans, if you have an LS Trans in there now then DEFINITELY swap in the b16a trans. IMO the LS trans is worthless even on an LS engine. The base plates of my spoon replicas also fit poorly, I didn’t a lot of trimming to get them right but the fit well now.
