Amber bulbs in gauge cluster

the 2 bulbs at the top of the cluster are the ones that light up the needles
ur needles wont light up if u dont have them in

uh, if u took the bulbs out that the needles rely on, then that is why the needles dont light up. they are size 74. get some blue 74 size bulbs. either paint them with “clear blue” paint or buy brand new ones. 74 24 Instrument Panel Gauge Colored Led Bulbs Lights and Lamps)

dont bother trying to paint them :stuck_out_tongue:
i tried and it doesnt work i dont understand how everyone has had success with this…

also, the bulbs heat up and need to be able to breathe… with a coat of paint on them this cant happen. its going to peel off or burn

just buy the bulbs theyre not expensive

i know the needles rely on these bulbs but is there a way to get the needles to glow or to position a light bulb from the base of the back of the needle??

anybody know how to do the amber clock? If yuou know how please teach me how so i can finish my amber conversion

gen 2 im sellin them on ebay… u wrote me an email the other day.

add a special film that i have. cant give out all my secrets

damn… ok! i will try to find that forum i know its somewhere in g2ic

memo*

Damn Nick, that’s the gayest shit I’ve ever seen…

Chris

what color bulbs on top? amber or clear…

I’ve done the amber conversion to my guage cluster as Miklebud described with the red sharpie coloring the blue part on top. Everything looks great except my needles aren’t bright red like yours. Did you use amber bulbs there too or did you just use regular ones w/o the blue condoms? I used a couple of old 74’s w/o the condom thingy. The brightness is up all the way too… maybe I have to get a couple of new 74’s… Miklebud??

Miklebud or GuywitaDa, please respond to the red needles question.

You did exactly what I did. The 74’s dont have condoms (at least I dont think they did) Mine are just the regular 74’s, albeit they are NEW ones. The camera did make a difference as they’re really not THAT bright as in the picture, but they are definately lit up at night. I think they’re may be way to stick a 24NA bulb into those 74 sockets above the needles, that would definately make them brighter.

DOH! I totally forgot to mention that I PUT TIN FOIL into that little tray with the 74’s. So it reflects the light better. that would make some difference too. :stuck_out_tongue:

Thank you, the foil thing is something that I’m tinkering with right now in the buttons for cruise, dofrost, and fogs. I didn’t think of doing it in that light tray, thanks again.

the needles are a glow in the dark paint that i purchased from a hobby shop…

What do you mean glow in the dark? It doesn’t look to me like you have UV bulbs in your tray. I’ve seen this invisible colored paint that only glows under uv light sold on ebay… thinking about doing that If I can’t get the right redness on the needles w/o having the black dial to show red too. Too much red just destroys the whole amber bulbs behind the cluster look. I really don’t want to paint the needles If I don’t have to, I like the stock look during the day. Guywitada, tell us about this paint you speak of. edit The paint I’m talking about http://cgi.ebay.com/INVISIBLE-PAINT-KIT-BONUS-UV-BLACKLIGHT-M20_W0QQitemZ8209556674QQcategoryZ16508QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

it was like a neon/glow in the dark orange…

kool…imma go and do my clock and finish up on making my needls brighter cuz i cant see them at night time…haha
