Annoying noise HelP!!!!

Ok there, an annoying rotating squeeking noise on the driver side of my g2, it makes it sound that my car is crying. Can anybody tell me what could it be and how to fix it??

Rotating squeaking noise? Can you elaborate on that some? Is there any special circumstance to cause it to do it? Braking, turning, over a certain speed, under a certain speed, rpm range?

it happens once i accelarate the car, and it gets faster as i go faster.

Well, depending on where it is coming from, it could be various things.

If the noise is coming from the front of the car (wheel) it could be your bearings of the drivers side hub.

If it is a squeaking coming from behind the instrument cluster, it could be you speedometer cable (in need of lubrication). This problem is often accompanied by a bouncing speedometer needle, especially at low speeds.

If it a Buzzing noise coming from behind the dash when the car is moving (especially at higher speeds), then this is the infamous “G2 buzzing noise”. Most have it. Few know where it’s coming from.

I have the buzzing noise and though I haven’t been able to confirm it, I suspect it is caused by air leaking behind the plastic cowel at the bottom of the windshield (under the wipers) and making the plastic vibrate against the car.

Good luck.

CV axles make grinding noises when they go bad too sometimes.

The noise is coming from the front of the car, driver side. U mention couple of stuff that could be causing it. Could u tell me or show me how to check and fix them?? I would really appreciate it.

Mostly i hear the noise coming from behind the dash, and one other thing i noticed that my speedometer needle tends to jump/shakes/bouncing a little, but most of the time it doesn’t bounce at a low speed, it bounce at high speed like around 40+ mph. Could that be it?? If it is can u show me how to fix it??

i have the same problem, except its on the passenger side, when i have time i’m gonna spray some wd40 on my rotors, maybe that’ll fix it…

Long drive with squeaky noise…

I bet its not the rotors cuz i just change my rotors and calippers couple of days ago. Still trying to figure it out, whats making the rotating squeaky noise. I was driving for 4 hours last nite to and from San Diego, it really annoys me. 1ntegra can u show me how to fix the one that is coming for the front of the wheels and the one behind the dash. That might be causing the noise, I’m not sure but it’s worth the try. Give intruction and pics if possible, I would really really appreciate it. Thanx

I too have that same sound…i know Exactly what you are talking about and it gets annoying …i would also like to know what it is …and it only does it when its cold or really musty outside…

U can try lubing up the bushigns, Do u have a camber kit? I have rubber bushings on my camber kit and was making a noise each time i start braking or sumthin, lubed up the bushings on the camber kit and the noise went away.

If ur gonna use lubing, i would suggest cv joint grease or someone stated lithium grease, both u can get at a local automotive place.

oh and if its a rotating noise, its probably linked with whatever moves down there. I.e. axles, bearing, wheel. Or suspension components that move, ball joints…etc. Juss throwing out ideas for u to better investigate.

Well i made out a plan to ger rid of that annoying noise, First i’m going to lube the rotating parts on my driver side wheels, then if that doesn’t do it. I’ll go for the belts, check it out and do whatever i can do to get rid of the noise. And if that doesn’t do it, i’m going to the speedometer and rpm meter, cuz my speedometer bounces on high speed. And if that doesn’t do it, HECK I GIVE UP…I’LL TAKE TO A SHOP!!!

Is the noise dependent on speed .In other words if you are doing 60 take it out of gear let the rpms drop to idle does the noise change with the rpms or does it change with wheel speed.Does it go away when you brake or turn the wheel? Is it more noticeable over bumps?

It goes with the wheel speed not engine…and when u slow down the sound slows down and yes it still does it in turns

me and dualdtmz have the same exact problem…

One of thew tricks that I use to trouble shoot wheel noise is to jack up the car, remove the tire from the side where you think the noise is coming from, put the car in neutral, and spin the offending hub this is a cheap and an easy way to try to isolate the problem. You might be able to find something this way.(brakes,cv joints etc)It is not fool proof sometimes I have had problems that only show up when the offending wheel has weight on it (ie wheel bearing)but it is worth a try.

Heres a thought…
You said that you had the pads and rotors replaced recently, it might be the backing plate touching on to the rotor… I mean that will give you a noise ALWAYS… a simple way of checking it is to remove the front wheels and just bend back the plate a little bit and see if that helps. Good luck!!!

hmmmm…sounds like an idea to try out…but i think its more like a wheel bearing but i am going to try the bending the plate thing…but i would think that it would make the sound ALL the time if it was that and not just when its cold or musty outside

worth a try, i never thought of that thanx. dualdtmz made a good point about the noise, that it would make the noise all the time.

Ok …i lookt @ my cy joint (drivers side) and its torn with grease everywhere…its not knocking or anything ,but i think i am going to go ahead and replace it …and @ the same time maybe thats what is causing that sound …i will let ya know as soon as i can find my receipt for my cv axle i am going to replace it (lifetime warranty…hehe)
