Figure I’d give y’all a little update… nuthin too special.
Motors all painted n lookin pretty. I had to order a valve spring tool, so now I’m putting in all new valvetrain. Aaaaand I bombed my fender with all the rust lol.
Nice build sir, when you use quality parts you get good results. I was wondering when you use that spring removal tool if you still have to insert air through the spark plug hole to keep the valve from falling if the motor was still in the car, but since you have the head off I guess it doesn’t matter. I hope you can fix your rear quarter panel & fender rust spots for your sake before it gets cancer and starts to spread, I’d hate to see you spend all that time and money in to it and then to loose it because of the cancer killing your car. lol, :salute:
With the head still on, yes you’d still need the air pressure in the cylinder. The tool works like a charm too!
And yes I know the rust is pretty bad… I’m not worried too much about the quarters, as I plan to just weld in new metal. My concern is with the windshield frame… I hope that’s not the deal breaker…
I’ve been debating if I want this build to go into the da, or if I can pick up a clean shell around here…
Yeah I forget sometimes that in those east coast states it gets pretty cold in the winters plus it snows heavily at times and when it does they use that salt crap on the roads that eats away at the cars. But if you do weld in metal that’s the right way to do it. When I paint my car I also plan on filling in the small dents with metal instead of bondo like everyone else uses cause after time the bondo begins to crack and ruins your nice ass paint job. You’ll do just fine anyways, and don’t worry cause whatever car or shell you plan on building will turn out great.
Yea, thankfully this winter in Minnesota has been mild as hell. I’ve been able to roll with the windows partway down all but maybe 2 weeks total. =]
Yesterday I picked up new pistons… again lol
BNIB CP pistons 81.5mm 11:1cr
Next I’m going to bring the crank in to get micro polished and measured for bearings ::
Well I finally got some cams, picked up some skunk2 pro2’s =]
Nice build man. Sorry to hear about your brother (even though that post was 2 years old). It’s pretty weird that I saw this because my dad and I were just talking about rebuilding my old B18A1 ha
Thanks man. I got the top end pretty squared away… I got some new hardware coming in, but other than that its just about done! Wanna bump up the CR a lil more though, probs a diff head gasket, get things milled a bit…
