I dont know much about fog lights but I want to put in these yellow bulbs my friend gave me. He says they are H3 and someone gave them to him. Can someone specify what H3 is and its compatibility? Once again Im lost when it comes to types of bulbs.
Well normally yes but here is the thing the H3 bulbs actually changed connector syles in 92, If you have a 90/91 integra the connector or plug for the h3 bulb is a round nub looking thing but in 92 they changed that to the flat chip looking connector type problem is no company makes them in the round nub anymore the only place you can get them with that nub kinda connector is from the dealership so if you are in a 92+ you are all good with new H3 bulbs but if you are 91- then you are SOL and stuck with stock bulbs.
Jon
what do you mean the “connector” was a different style? I bought two dif types of aftermarket H3 bulbs for my fogs and they all fit into the elns fine and hooked all up.?
Well I know for 91 they have a rounded plug connector the others that I always see for sale have a flat chip style and they h3 everything the same but the connector here is a picture of a modern H3
notice the flat chip end, now before I would have thought well maybe it was just my car like the owners before me put some wierd connector on it but then I went to the dealership and they gave me the exacte bulb that I needed with the rounded end, but when you buy the H3 now from after market companys I have only found the type with that flat connector shown above. Maybe it is just the 91 models that have that or the owners of your car before you unless you owned it since 1990 had converted it since they couldnt find the other style bulb anywhere but the dealership.
ohh I get it… the male connector… I aws wondering what you meant. ya miens hooked right up. maybe previous owner changed it I dunno. but either way, it’s not hard to change the connector.
yeah not to hard to convert it but he was just asking how compatable they are with the current stock setup, anything is compatable if you have the time and money and patience like normally you would think Skyline R34 taillights wont fit a G2 but with money they will fit
hehe true. goodluck tho
Thanks to everyone whos posted on here. Obviously I haven’t pulled the fog lights to see what connectors I have. I own a '91 and according to Vardoulika Im SOL and stuck with stock bulbs hehe… whatever SOL means?? Sorry I dont know my acronyms with G2IC talk. JK
So anyways, Im at work right now so Ill check out the plugs and see if they are the round or flat when I get home. Now what should I know about the wattage? Im more concerned of the darn thing melting the housing. Thanks again to everyone…
means a couple things clean version sorta outa luck or dirty like I mean it shit outa luck
everyoen says jsut use 55watt bulbs nothing more. I’m using 100 watt bulbs and I have no complaints. haven’t melted nothing…

Both prolly. USDM fogs are plastic as well.
It’s extremely simple to convert the plug. All I did was find a female connector that matched it the male end of the light, and then cut the old end off and then soldered the new female end on. Haven’t had any problems yet.

your not SOL, just because you have a 90-91 doesn’t mean you can’t change the stock fog light bulbs. its just a matter of changing the connector either to the bullet type(round one) or spade(flat). in otherwords your not stuck with the stock ones. you can put any h3 in, just change the connector accordingly.
if the 90-91 stock h3’s has a bullet connector stock, and the new h3 you get has a spade connector, then just go out and get some bullet connectors and crimp them onto the new h3’s.

That is the correct answer!
Another option for bullet type female ends on the car is to open up the gap a litlle bit so that the male spade from the bulb will fit right in that gap. Just as long as there is metal to metal contact, it will be fine.
metal to metal is the key word. i just bought new (aftermarket) fogs for my 90. all i did was slide the flat piece into the round piece. it held, so the hell wit it.
Some aftermarket foglights come with a adapter piece that will convert the flat style connector to a round style one.
So bottom line: If I have a '90 Teg, what number bulb do I use for the fog light?
Or is the conversion needed?
H3…
but most likely your stock connector won’t match so just buy the proper connector from the hardware shop and crimp it in place of either the one on the car or the one attached to the bulb.
I have a 92 and the connectors on the car were the same as the H3’s ( both males or both females can’t remember ) so i replaced the one on the car with the opposite connector.

Okay, so I have a '90 and want yellow bulbs in the fogs. You’re saying I can’t go into an auto store and pick up a set of replacement bulbs in super white OR yellow?
