Anyone else using ERL manifold?

This manifold is absolutely gorgeous but the only problem I am having is that I cant seem to find bolts that are short enough to bolt the turbo to the manifold?!? The threads in the manifold are not very deep at all. I went to Ace Hardware and got the shortest grade 8 bolt they had and its still about half an inch to long. Should I just try to tap the threads further into the manifold or what? The only other thing is with the vband wastegate clamp, I can’t fit a nut on the other end b/c it hits the vband flange. Sorry if this sounds confusing. I will try to get pics up if you guys need them. THanks,
Chris

you have any pictures?

Yeah, I will get some up tommarow to show you exactly what I’m talking about.

Have you tried to cut the ends off of the bolts. I had the same problem with a homemade manifold and I just cut the ends off the bolts with a dremel. I thought it might not thread but it worked fine. gl

yep, just cut off the ends…put them in a vice so they dont move and use a high speed dremel…cut straight - i had to do this on my Inline Pro

I think Fast-Turbo.com sells a stud package though that might be better. I bought the stud kit for the turbo-downpipe and its def going to be much better than using bolts

Chris, i would do one of two things…One being to cut the threads on the bolts as others metioned or do a stud kit. As for the wastegate issue, i had no problems whatsoever using the allen heads tial supplies. Call me at the shop and i can help you get the right shit. 302-798-7000

Thanks for all the help. I found some Tial bolts for the wastegate and they didn’t work. The thread was different. But I found bolts for that, that do work. As for the turbo, I am just going to order the stud kit from fast-turbo. Do you know what size stud’s I need? I’m not very good with bolt sizes lol…Thanks again.
Chris

Just tell Stan what Turbo you are using…on my T3/T4 I think they were M8x1.5 studs for the downpipe and M10 or M12x1.5 on the turbo flange bolts, but dont quote me on that.
