are all you guys running restrictors? oil leaking from my turbo

well after me and my friend finished street tuning my DA the other night, i noticed a little smoke coming from under my hood. Popped the hood and noticed the center section of my turbo looked a little wet and it was lightly smoking =(

its not leaking a lot but there’s like a few drips of oil on my crossmember and thats it. Do you think my seals are shot? or maybe theres just too much pressure going to my turbo causing the oil to blow past the seals? My drain isn’t the best but some friends said it would work fine, it only has a downward slope for a few inches but the remaining part of the line is pretty horizontal. i’ll try to get some pics later…

the turbo is a turbonetics t3/to4e 57 trim and i’m running a -3 feedline. I got the turbo used but it was in good shape when i got it, only put maybe at most 200 miles on the damn thing in the last year since i finished the turbo setup.

i was never too happy w/ my oil drain setup so i’m gonna try the FAST TURBO oil drain kit w/ AN fittings that i got from Stan a while back. i’m using the cheaper stealthmode version. Hopefully it helps, maybe i’ll invest in a atpturbo restrictor also.

Are all you guys running restrictors on your journal bearing turbos?

yes. u will need to run one aswell. this should be ur problem, though get the drain back fixed

ya first thing i’m gonna try is the new oil drain since i already have the fast turbo kit, if that doesn’t work then i’ll order a restrictor, only thing i don’t know what size i should run.

EDIT: i guess this size is for journal bearing turbos and for a t3/t4

so expensive for such a simple looking fitting… eh

try that but also alot of lines have oil restrictors built in, find out if your does…ive had good experience with the stealthmode kit

my stealthmode oil line kit was just the -3 line w/ a 90 degree fitting on the turbo, i’m pretty sure there wasn’t a built in restrictor but i’ll take a look when i redo my oil drain.

i also read that some people have a little leak after they install a new turbo and it just goes away most of the time. Hopefully it happens to me too lol

becarefull of atp retrictor its
weak so dont over tighen it

i had one break on me:(

i like this one

Turbo Oil Pressure Reduction Kit

i bought one but lost the caps so i had to head to atp turbo to use the shitty brass one haha
works

thanks for the tip man,

ya the one in the link you sent me looks better, just wish they weren’t so freakin expensive for what they are! haha. But if 15 bucks before shipping saves my turbo then its worth it pretty much. I just have to think of it that way to make me feel better lol
