Two posts of the same link…bandwidth whores!!!

j/k — anyways, i know, a bit slacking but i am doing my homework and doing it right but jumped the gun yes i know…see my gf’s Dad works as a parts manager at an Audi/VW dealership and he tells me he has all sorts of turbos laying around that he could get rid off in a very cheap way. And it happens that i will be in the market for a turbo and I’m on a budget, so yes i got a little excited, but i did search and all i came up with is that i might need to get a custom manifold??? is this the case? do we not need custom manifold with a T25, T3, T3/T4??? as i read about these often and understand these to be different size turbos… a turbo is a turbo i know but it would be the difference in swapping a b16 or an h22 in our cars right? a little more difficult one way.

all i ask is that you enlighten me if you have the info…thats easy enough right?

and like i said, he has many…want one?

Off Topic: Formz what do you do outside of G2? Just curious.

a) All turbo manifolds for our cars are custom.

b) When formz isnt here, he tries in vain to fix the many problems with his dsm. Mostly trying to remove the mitsu emblems

uh… I go to college.

Ok, more questions…ready to get flamed again.

  1. When looking at the size and efficiency of a turbo, where would I look to find the specifics? Does Audi/VW offer them somewhere? Volvo? The DSMs? I dont mind searching honestly, but I would appreciate a little help on where to start. I have started reading “Maximum Boost” but I get all tingly inside thinking about what i could do if i had the time, tools, funds and a space to do it all it…still, for now, its a dream…

  2. When talking about properly “tuning” a turbo after installing it, I understand the the AFR is probably #1, timing and the other basics, but i also have heard there are all sorts of “tricks” the pros use when dailing in their settings. What do they really know that all of your knowledge here hasnt heard of at least once, or is it the tools and funds they have to do it on really make them the pros? and how do you absoluty know that you have done (or someone else has done) proper tuning on your vehicle?

  3. How much extra time does it really take to perform the extra proactive maintenance on a car with a turbo than on a NA car?

BONUS) I think I want to setup my car to respond well from 0-60 more so than in the higher RPM/speed ranges. I understand that a smaller turbo will accomplish this but does put a strain on the system at higher speeds. Does this strain hurt the engine in any form and even with a turbo, is there a chance that my acceleration/torque/horse power will be less than stock at say 75mph in 4th gear if i go for this setup?

The VWs/audis use KKK k03. Those turbos are TINY. No potential for power.

I had an Audi A4 with an upgrade neuspeed turbo (k04), extrude honed exhaust manifold running 16psi and it was still alot slower than my 91 teg with ITR swap.

I sold both and I’m now alot happier with an E36 BMW.

Wow, cool, somone answered my original question…I thought I got thrashed enough for that already but cool!

Anyone have any help for the other questions? thx
