nah there’s nothing new, i really didn’t even drive much while i was at home. i decided to put money away toward school so nothing too fancy for my car for a while. i did get a stock lip from one of the guys in the DFW group but that about sums it up, hahah. I had ordered the “type R” style front and rear lips but the order got fucked up somewhere along the line so that was a bust and i got my money back.
i was hoping i’d be in town for that cookout at river legacy but my folks wanted to push me out of the house as soon as possible so i’m SOL, oh well
anyway, hopefully i’ll get to see some of you guys out at the pep boys on saturday
ok guys, I’ve updated the calendar and added a map to page one. I’ll post it here too:
The meet on 8/26 will be held at Pepboys in the Lakeline area at 6pm. It’s located at the corner of 183/Lake Creek Pkwy just south of 620. It shares the parking lot with Burlington, Alamo Drafthouse, Jason’s Deli, etc.
Here’s the address:
Pep Boys
13729 North Highway 183
Austin, TX 78750
well have fun guys my car is going under the wrench this weekend and for most of next week. took her into day and im taking the tranny to the other shop tomorrow.
hey vincent when you did the break in on your exedy clutch. what rpm range did you stay in ? i was told not to exceed 3500. this is my first clutch break in and i need to know what the limits are during this process
I don’t quite remember what rpm you’re supposed to stay below, but that sounds about right. Just read the paperwork when you get the clutch. Also, remember to never dump the clutch during break-in, alway feather it smoothly and keep it below 3.5-4k rpms. Basically don’t drive it like txracer, but rather txgranny :giggle:
hey come on now. i make my cars work and by far the acura has held up the most, but i need to start treating her better. once my break in is done im going to the drag strip… i know not to dump the clutch and shift softly and smoothly. i will try to keep it under 3k when i can but there are times where that is just to slow. and every day untill it is broken in im going to be driving to oltorf and back on 35…lol that should count as double miles.and im real happy that after careful inspection of my motor top and bottem while it was lifted. i have only 3 problems and 2 of wich can be fixed at austin nut and bolt ( alt bracket bolt, transmission mount bolt) the 3rd is my cam seal but golden eagle will be getting my order soon.
hey man had to ask about the rpm range exedy instructions arent all there. mine said 750 mile break, never abuse a newly fitted clutch, and adjust the cable at 750 and 1k.
thanks man but i had read that a fewdays ago. i hope my header will go on today. then at 3 im picking up itr flywheel and rear main seal ( better safe to go ahead and swap it now then have it go out 500 miles)
after a few weeks of disappointment and not bein able to drive the teg due to known problems we have finally fixed her. i could keep coolant in it but we took out the radiator and it was bad. hopefully that fixes my problems. had a compression test done came back 165, 170, 175 and 175. so the head gasket is good thank god. i probally need to check my transmission fluid to but i dont know where it is… ima noob also on my car. i can finally go fast again. ill post pictures oh the crap that was in the old radiator. lots ob build up. im lookin forward to the next meet now. see all yall there.
well i have awsome news. the transmission shop said its 700 for parts and labor on a full rebuild. bearings, seals, and synchros… the itr flywheel i got weighed in at 16lbs, and my stock is 19lbs. i doubt i will feel any difference but i i am hoping its something noticable…
i wanted to post this for you guys or any one else who is looking for a good shop in or around the austin area. AUS TEX TRANSMISSIONS so far there prices are very good. like in my earlyer post there charging me for a complete rebuild. i know that to pull the transmission out of the car and put it back is only 300
well mah bitch is gonna be back on the road this afternoon and im picking her up tomorrow. i also get to have ricer fun of driving open header for a few miles to go get my cat flange extended. so i should be at the next meet. and im hoping it only takes me a few weeks to do the break in.
well guys my buddy just called me, the car is back togather and he was test driving it. its running open header for now till i get it fixed tomorrow. he said that the rpms pick up nice and fast but the barely drop, there is no more slop in my shifter, clutch feels awsome he didnt even have to adjust it ( kinda worries me ). im stoked also i was told that my megan racing header is turning nice and gold. wich is good cuz dogging on new header (s) turns them blue and putting around turns them gold i think…
