hey vdo im ordering my header this week. i was wondering, ive made some calls and its about 124.50 to get it installed. would you be willing to do it. for 70 or something, i need to save some cash on the install.since im prolly going to need to take it to a muffler shop and have a extension put in …

Normally, I’d be willing to help, but because of the heat I’ll have to decline. I don’t even work on my own car when its this hot. Sorry buddy. btw, if you can do a starter, I think you can do the header install.

Why do you have to fab an extension? If you buy a 90-91 header shouldn’t it bolt on? Did you buy a 1-piece or a 2-piece?

its a 2pc but ive been doing my home work more now since im about to order it, and ive heard a few people say that it is jsut a hair short. so i started looking at obx headers. and i read that the primarys dont line exactly witht he ports on the head… so i figured for better flow and smoother flow a small extension would work better.

thats kool man i just asked cuz you have air tools. and i didnt want to get half way into this, and then i cant finish due to stuck bolt…

ok yall know im a newbie but can any one help me install an obx air/fuel guage in the teg. i honestly dont know how

i dont know when i would have time but i can tell you how

look at your instructions find the signal wire, power wire, and ground wire. if its a 90 91 teg then its easyer cuz there is only one wire for the o2.

connect your power wire to a switched 12v supply. i used my radio power wire. the ground can go to a bolt touching metal take any and all paint off the area and ruff it up alil. then the signal wire goes tot he 02, its the upstream o2 right on the header. DO NOT SPLICE INTO THE FIRST PART OF THE O2 WIRE. splice into it after the connecter. then reconnect your battery and go for a drive.

now i may have done something wrong when i wired mine or i got a bad one. but it stays lit up to full rich all the time when i drive. but when its floored in the higher rpms there is some light flickering with the last few leds. so i hope with my header swap and a new o2 everything will work… vdo correct me if i am wrong abotu any of the install i know your afr works …

**for 92 93 teggys. find the signal wire there should be 4 wires i think signal,power,heater, and a ground…
if you dont have one already get your hands on a haynes, or helms books.

Don’t think of it as a small problem. I had this problem with two diffrent vehicales.

  1. Your clutch could be going out.

  2. Your disks could need to be chanced.

If it ain’t the first (pray that it is) then you need to replace your disks, take it to a Pro.

header is going on , clutch is being swapped to my exedy stage 1, then the flywheel, and the transmission is going to be taken apart and see what needs to be fixed.

so i went with the act 12.5lb flywheel.

i dont even know what to expect from the header and flywheel ( mainly the flywheel) but the break in on the exedy clutch isnt going to be fun and very boring,

Can’t wait to see it in action.

Who all’s going to the meet? I figured we could all meet up at the pepboys in north/west austin about 6 or 7 pm.

I guess the meet will be at Pepboys at 6pm. It’s located at the corner of 183/Lake Creek Pkwy just south of 620. It shares the parking lot with Burlington, Alamo Drafthouse, Jason’s Deli, etc. I’ll update the calendar and post up a map when I get home tonight.

Mike, you’re getting the same clutch/flywheel combo as the one I have (Exedy stg1/ACT 12.5lb fly). I haven’t had any problems with mine. You’ll love how fast your engine will rev with it.
