automatic to manual swap (auto - 5spd conversion writeup)

I need local pick-up.

I switched in the stock ecu form my car and it works fine with no codes. so really im running the ecu out of my auto without the without the transmission unit

as far as bolts go my mechanic used the ones off of the other motor mounts of the wrecked car.

nvm i now got a code 12 i guess now i gotta find a 91 ecu

oh and uh my cruise control dont work either. i think its because the car “thinks” its in park so the cruise knows not to work. anybody know how to fix this?

maybe try the cruise control computer off of a stickshift car? ima try that tomorow.

Did it work?

i dont know i never got to try. my car got totalled by a drunk driver. one thing i did notice is that the cruise computer off of the 5 speed car has “MT” labeled on it so it should have probably worked.(i have it if anyone wants it) but yeah heres the thread about my car

and for anyone still not sure about converting to a 5speed:

I think it was well worth itbut only because my auto tranny was shot. if theres nothing wrong with your auto then just leave it. also i paid only 800 for the swap. a new auto tranny was going to cost me 600. so to me it was very worth it.

the best way to do it is to buy a parts car. buy a wrecked integra that still has everthing which should cost about 2-4 hundred bucks and then just take everything you need from there. then put everything into your own car. i had a mechanic help me with my swap because i had never dropped a tranny. but i did pretty much everything else. so thats how i saved alot of cash.

How did you guys get your rubber boot around the shifter that keeps the elements out to fit. I can;t get mine in.

bump

add some silicone

Do you have a pic?

your talking about the rubber boot right?

well the boot fits inside of the square hole. put it in the hole. then put silicone oround all of it the silicone will hold it so it dont go down too far. i dont know how else to explain it and i dont have pictures.

Not the boot you see, the boot that seals the hole where the shifter comes throught the floor. I welded a plate in the other hole.

thats the one im talking about

Can you show me pics?

Can you show me pics? Also, how did you remove your EGR system?

How you remove your EGR? Replace the intake manifold with one from a 5-speed. Do you have a service manual?

Yes I have a service manuel. I disconnected it there and put a nipple boot on it and clamped it on the I/M. It is diconected. I mean accually remover the system including beside the fuel rail. I am still having issues with the rummer shift boot thing.

i hacked up the egr and welded one of the holes shut. i left one of the vacuum holes open, stuck a hose on the top nipple, then plugged the hose for future use.

Okay, thanks!

How do you guys get insured/inspected after the swap? I am sitting on all my parts right now waiting for an answer.

who says you’re supposed to tell them? i claim ignorance.
