automatic to manual swap (auto - 5spd conversion writeup)

Ok, by “bind” should I cut the plug off and just connect to two wires?

Hello Archon, IM me on AIM integra11to1… do you have pictures?

Stick a paperclip in it to connect the ports.

I did, and it still didnt work…

I wonder if there is a color difference between the years.

Mine is a 1991, what year is your car?

its a 90, but has a 93 Dash in

Bump for my question. I don’t think I have the wiring correct.

Archon:
-can you take your key out?
-do you still have the auto gear selector slider box thing attached?

When I did mine I just left all the eletronics hooked up. If you need a Manual ECU I have one…

Yes, I can remove my key. No, I do not have any of the electronics hooked up. I’m still using the auto ECU. I just need this idle issue resolved so that I can move onto my OBD1 ECU.

Uh… Hmmm… Timing? Is the distributor slanting at all? Mines not but it still runs like ass… and Im getting one code… a code 17, VSS… thats cause it aint hooked up…

It’s not a timing issue. I’ve swapped just about everything out, including the engine wiring harness.

The only other change I’ve done was the auto to manual conversion. That’s why I’m asking for wiring clarification.

its been so long ive forgotten the details, but according to my image album Best Of SEO & Blogging - ImageStation
there is just the reverse you forgot to mention (green + green and yellow + yellow). i didnt seem to take a pic of the key interlock (yellow/black and yellow) but im pretty sure i spliced those. then of course the black/white to black/white.

at worst you can figure it out the way i did by taking apart the neutral safety switch and tracing the wires with the help of the helms. basically you’re just simulating the shifter being in P.

im glad to say everything is still running great, even with the auto ecu with modded fuel table. however code 12:egr still remains but with no effects…

as far as my idle, there is one odd thing. if i adjust it the proper way with the IACV disconnected to 750rpm, it ends up being too high when i plug IACV back in, about 1500rpm or so. ecu reset doesnt help, i have to just turn the idle screw down until it stabilizes again. otherwise the idle is ok even with a/c on. i believe it has to do with the auto ecu.

oh also it wouldnt hurt to replace your alternator brushes. i get almost no dimming anymore and its possible it helped with the idle.

John, did you get my email…?

sorry, this is Scott.

This is for Brian:

To get your key to come out, you need to fool the car into thinking it is in “P”. To do this, you need to connect two wires in the big 12 pin connector from the shift selector:

Green/White and Black. In the Helm manual, it’s pins 6 and 7.

You also need to connect Pins 11 and 12. These are two heavier gauge Black/White wires.

i spliced/soldered/taped mine. i didnt want those two fat black ones going anywhere. mine is a 90, but the helms is a 92 and the colors were the same i believe. either way, if you look at how the switch works you can be extra confident in your connections despite what anyone says

Good news, got the key to come out, however I still dont have Turn Signals…

so what is all the wiring required? I got my peddle assembly and it has wires on the clutch part on the assembly, where do I connect them? Some one list ALL the wiring required to do this. I am putting the peddle assembly in tomarrow, so I can get this part out of the way.

i just did my swap last night got everything mounted i’m just figvuring out the vacuum lines so we can fire her up and go shift some gears

I just did the swap but one problem… I can’t get the car to start now! Any suggestions?

wiring bro. u need to trick it into thinking it’s in park so it will start

my question is simple cant get it answered in post i made so maybe here im not tring to make yall mad but im STUCK on one think, the back motor mount by the fire wall. yall said i need to shim it and what not, 1 guy said use a 92-93 cuz its longer, cant i use take the stearing rack off and use that? thats what it seems to be bolted to on my 91 rs…i have a 92 rs. is there a way i can take the wiring from it and plug into my and not do all the make it thinks its in park deal?
