Average price you pay for your turbo?

Just wondering what the average turbo is bought for by the members here? Do any of you know any good places to get quilty turbos, doesnt need to be the best, for a price that wont empty the pocket? Any input is welcome.

look up to the middle of the page. see the red blinking SEARCH button? it has all the info you need.

welcome btw. learn to use that button before posting, it saves bandwidth…

sadly it doesnt save bandwidth from asshats who like to postwhore by posting “SEARCH NEWB”

look around for a good used turbo, only way your going to get one for a reasonable price

otherwise your looking at 500+ for a new one

check out homemadeturbo.com for a decent ammount of turbo part outs, and a few of the sponsors sell new turbos as well

sadly you make yourself look like an ass ragging on someone you dont even know. I have been on many forums and have told many a newbs to use the search engine. But this isnt exactly a common question that is covered 10,000 times a year like a “best intake/exhaust” question. Im just looking to see if anyone has an insight on where they got or know of getting good deals on turbochargers. This teg isnt the first car i have owned or built, but it will be the first turbocharged, and im just looking for the deals and loop holes like we all do. All i wish to have is some constructive insight, and im sorry but “use the search button noob” isnt very helpful in some cases. Ill allow you to use the search bar and look for an answer to my specific questions, maybe then you will see its not as easy to find everything you need with the very useful search button.

Sweet, another Oregon member.

Anyway, I don’t know if I’d buy another used turbo. I’d probably just suck it up and save up for the price of a new one.

Another option if you haven’t looked into it is Blaast turbos. Just google blaast and you should be able to find it. They rebuild turbos and also sell some. I’ve heard good things about them, can’t say i’ve personally bought, but if my turbo ends up being toast i just may do so.

was that for me? how was i ragging on you? i simply told you to search. i searched “price for turbo” and got like 10 pages. so i’m sure you can read through that to find some helpful info. have you looked on ebay, h-t marketplace, hmt(as stated above), etc. never once called you a newb either. your question could easily be answered by looking around a little bit.

wow, i guess you didn’t read what i wrote either. sorry, if it sounded mean, but a lot of questions like his can be answered by just looking/checking around.

but again i was looking for your input, from people who have built turbo tegs, not some little smart ass on Honda-No-Tech. I envy your level of experience with these cars and look to learn from you. You may have some sources or advice on this topic not found in other pages. Also those 10 pages of results consist of post that can contain either of those words and not necessarily those words in conjunction.

blaast turbos is a good company to deal with, they are actualy a sponsor of HMT, here is a link

http://www.blaastperformance.com/include/index.php

i paid about 550 for the last turbo i bought, which was a great turbo that i found on honda-tech. granted they arent the best forum, but there classifieds if nothing else are at least very vast and have some good deals

first thing you need to do is really decide what you want this car to be used for. daily driver? drag queen? weekend fun? etc and from there you can determine what turbo would be best for you

no i have already decided this is just going to be a spirited street strip car. Nothing too crazy with the weight reduction or stripping, only looking for 250-350whp. I know the higher numbers will require some lower end building, i appreciate your help guys.

depending on your setup, you can hit 300 with a basicly stock motor, at the least i would invest in some head studs

its all in the tune, even a built motor with 20K into it wont make up for (or stand up to) a shitty tune

welcome dood. you will learn fast that there are alot of haters in this forum. half of them simply dont contribute shit. but your question was kinda dumb… i mean you can search google from a buisness that sells turbos… they usually give you a price b4 you buy it. well thats how i think it works

hater, no. logical thinker, yes.

but your question was kinda dumb… i mean you can search google from a buisness that sells turbos…

my point exactlly.

i paid 800 for my SC61 with custom G housing. .63 hotside and .70 comp
one of a kind

I got one from a junkyard for thirty-five dollars, if that helps.

I would buy new. I thought I could save some $ by purchasing from a local, which I did at first got a big, mean looking turbonetics t3/t4 for 120. It had a little bit of shaft play, but spun very nice/freely. However, as soon as I got the sucker apart I found that it would absolutely need a full rebuild before I could ever put it on my car! My particular turbo was an expensive one to rebuild and 400 dollars for the rebuild plus shipping charges later, I have a nice shiny and hopefully reliable turbocharger.

Anyway, if I were to do it all over, I probably would just buy new/rebuilt from Blaast. That’s my pennies.

sc61 s trim ported housing $800

$150 from a member on here =) no shaft play, spins freely, very happy with it

theres a guy on a local forum here who has one a small t25 for $100. Great for quick spool but not much top end.

Between 1200 - 1300 for Garret Dual BB

280-350 for my turbo’s. I have no problems buying from the china men…lol

Gt3076r, $1200
