ill be in the market for some pads soon. so i cant decide between these two pads, the MM or the HPS. im not going to be doing racing, only daily driving, so my real question is: are the HPS worth twice the price of the MM??
i found HPS for 110 shipped and the MM for 65 shipped. these prices are from groupbuycenter, if you guys could give me your opions it would be appreciated.
u try tirerack? i’ve had both… and either works well. the dust and rotor wear is friendlier with the Hawks IMO. but axxis pads $65 for both front and rear???
I’m interested in this too.
Hawk HPS
Hawk HP+
Axxis Ultimates
Axxis MetalMasters
Anyone have a favorite for daily driving and the monthly autocross?

yeah, 65 +shipping. from enthusiasts auto at groupbuycenter.
but back on topic, are the hps soooo much better to be costing like $40 more???

So why wouldn’t you buy o.e. pads? they’re half the price of hawks.
And axxis don’t compare.
I know for a fact, MOST people buy these axxis, bendix, raybestos aftermarket pads and have forgotten how good the O.E pads are. If you drive your car on a daily basis, its the ONLY way to go. I’ve tried them all.
I will post this on every brake thread untill people fukin try um, and see what a diff, they are.
- Even if you autocross or roadrace once a month, you could just take the 1/2 hour to swap to the hawks or whatever before and after the drive.
i want better pads, thats why i dont want the oe pads. i dont want to spend money and get “factory performance” as good as it is. im trying to improve and thats why i was asking this thread.
if no one can help me with my comparison, ill buy the axxis MM.
I like the HAWK HP+, and felt the Metal Masters were OK. I haven’t tried the other two, but did read a review on HT where a guy tried the HAWK HPS at HPDE and didn’t like them. Go figure, it’s a street pad.

Axxis Metal Masters are INFERIOR to O.E. Pads period.
Dust, Noise and Heat resistance.
Duy, was the review based on your Wilwood Big Brake setup?
I have been able to induce massive fade in my stock braking system in daily driving. There have to be some pads/rotors out there that are more resistant to fade without being unacceptable for easy use.

No.

If you can produce YOUR receipt from Acura that they are o.e. pads,
I will send you ten bux. I don’t beleive in such a story.
I get mine fukin HOT off on ramps and such. No fade.
I have yet to go to Buttonwillow to “test” them tho.

O dear Honda,
I will not fail thou in the pursuit to knowledge thee of O.E.M.
Sorry Scott, there are much better pads out there for OEM brakes.
Not for daily driving Archon.
I don’t recall you buying pads from me back then anyway…
Thats because I know better
I buy OEM hoses, belts, seals, and aftermarket everything else.
Vision, Mugen, Spoon, Wilwood, etc
to that statement.

thats the kind of answer im looking for
just talked to two dealerships in my area and the quote me 104 and 118 for front and rear pads. so since axxis are inferior, and i could get hawk hps for 96 or oem for about the more: which is better HPS or OEM???
I believe Hawk pads are considered more of a performance pad than say
Axxis Metal Masters are more of an o.e. "replacement…

wanna give me a set scott? I’ll do a test vs my ultimates
Honestly I’d be really surprised if they performed better than the ultimates… but who knows… after everything you’ve said its really beginning to make me wonder. Have you tried the ultimates personally? Only downside i’ve seen to the ultimates so far is extra dust. They make no noise and thusfar I haven’t had any heat problems. We have the HPS’s on my parents f150. I know its hard to compare them to my ultimates, especially since they are on different cars. But the HPS’s do make some noise, don’t dust anymore than the pads that came stock, and to me didn’t seem to improve much over the stock pads. But again…this is on an f150, not an integra.
