Axxis Metal Master vs. Hawk HPS

Colin, who knows, the diff. pads on diff. rotors make a diff. too.

And people brake diff. during diff. heat ranges.

I used Axxis with my current drilled rotors. They heated and glazed, even minorly warped the rotors.
(which shouldn’t happen.)

I recut the rotors and installed O.E Pads. Thats was early last year. Haven’t had a prob since.

But obviously people have opinions and mine is that Acura/Honda part number 45022-SK7-526 is the way to go.

p.s. If you wanna meet up at the next meet, you can have my set of Axxis pads I never opened.

The Honda pads i’ll give you for 34 bux.
For being a good sport with this fellow so-caler.
I just truly believe in these things…? not sure why.

how much are you guys paying for the oe pads?? because i found the HPS for less than the dealer pads.

scott, the axxis pads you used, were they the metal masters or the ultimates? And when you changed from the axxis pads back to oem… did actual braking performance improve? (just stopping power, not taking into consideration dust, noise, or problems due to added heat or material transfer).

Thats not a bad price on pads. If I wasn’t so damn poor I’d get a set just to be able to compare.

metal masters they were. Thats the set I have at home too.
Colin, I just got spoiled with all this great stuff at my hands man.
I even bought a new Rad cap because it wasn’t o.e.
I’m in trouble man. :frowning:

crap rotors

BTW, why arn’t you using OEM rotors, Mr. OEM?

scott, yeah, i’m not trying to argue about stuff… mainly just try to get all the info out there. Can’t have too much info on this site.

I totally understand being an oem whore… man, i can’t wait till i get a job

ouch. Well, I decided to try the Brembo drilled after my rotors went bye bye.(not sure what they were, came with the car when I bought it.) at first I thought the drilled rotors were no bueno till I switched the pads. Then with the oe pads, workin great, it turned out to be a good combo. Abs went off a couple times with the oe rotors. Hasn’t gone off with the oe pads/ drilled rotors.

For my driving, the combo works for me very well. I try to spread the good word. I’m not a noob when it comes to fast driving and braking. Just don’t happen to have the extra money to try “everything” out there like some of you suspension gurus.

So now I will stop before a good freindly disagreement turns into a dissagreement between good freinds.

peace.

How did you cut the drilled rotors? I thought it wasn’t possible. Can you also cut slotted rotors?

get the ultimate, they are just 3$ more than MM

The Ultimates basically fit between the HP+ and HPS. Neither of which should be used for more than 1 track day. All three are a fine autocross pad, and not too aggressive for the street.

Go with OEM for the street. If you don’t have enough braking power, get better tires and quit driving so fast on the street.

believe it or not, my brake fade once in a while when i do delivery during weekends… but it wasn’t OEM pads tho… some no-name shit from Canadian [ghetto] Tires… so maybe that’s why, i htink i will try OEM pad next time.

Well said my friend, well said.

i have hawk hps but i dont have oem rotors, i have the cross drilled/ slotted rotors… stopping power sucks when i try to stop for the first couple of times in the morning, but it seems to grab much harder as they heat up! very good pads but i’m tired of cleaning my rims every other day =o(

what color do they dust? i have gunmetal wheels so if its dark it shouldn’t be a problem.
im planning on getting the HPS w/ brembo blanks soon.

i also have gunmetal wheels, its very noticable after about 4 days of driving… the dust is like a brown rust color… longetivity of the pads is great… i’m never really hard on the brakes, i just wanted something more powerful than oem and this was a great choice for me…

FAMILYG2 or anyone:

Where can I get ACTUAL OEM (not just your basic AutoZone "OEM Replacement) Honda/Acura/Nissin 45022-SK7-526 or other part number pads for front and back? (preferably off the internet).

Thanks,
-Dustin

youre welcome:D

they have them for the front also

nickgmiller: Thanks for the response. Yeah, those pads are really expensive… plus they aren’t the same part number given by FAMILYG2…for the front or back.

Let me get this straight…FAMILYG2…those pads you like and were selling before…they were Honda PACKAGED with a HONDA part number but manufactured by Nissin, right?
