ok so i have a da with a b16a1 and an xsi s1 trany… i am going to swap out my trany for an ls or something with longer gears. my goal from my turbo set up is to be in the low to mid 13’s. possibly lower then 13. I am puzzled on getting a big, medium, or small turbo. My first thought would be to get a bigger sized one like a T-.70. I wanted that because i could launch on someone and not build boost right away and then in 2nd 3rd 4th and 5th gears have plenty of boost.
I watched some videos of da’s and eg’s with that setup and it seemed like they only felt the turbo at 6500 RPM and then instantly shifted. I didnt like that because its almost like not having a turbo and the lag was soooo bad.
If i get a medium or small turbo i heard that they spool so fast you cant get traction. more recently i was thinking if i got a medium or small turbo i could just get a decent boost controller and not have it kick in until vtec. then i could launch and then have plenty of boost for the rest of the gears with minimal turbo lag.
what do you think i should do. I have never owned a turbo car before so i dont know much about the setups.
