b16a- thunderbird T3- .48 trim- 6psi- setup suggestions?

b16a jdm first gen
T3 thunderbird turbo .48 trim compressor side
blocked off wastegate running external wastegate
planning 6 psi
what size chargepiping should i run? 2.0" ? 2.25" ?
also, what size downpipe should i run? 2.5" ? it’s running a stock cat & 2.25" RS*R exhaust…

running stock injectors, and 7:1 fmu, possibly ditching the fmu soon though…

obd-0 chipped pw0

suggestions? i’ve got pretty much everything else…

2" would be fine. msot run 2.5" but its not really needed. whatever you can get will work. I’d jsut get whatever matches your TB. I would run ATLEAST 2.5" DP if not 3" Too bad it’s gongi to a small exhaust tho :frowning: so 2.5" would be good sicen you dont’ avhe to step down as far like you would from 3" sicne your ecu is chipped. Sell teh FMU buy cheap DSM injectors. and run BRE’s new boost code on your OBD0 VTEC ecu and you’re set.

well, cause 2" would be okay i guess, but im planning on actually spending money this time, and stop using the plastic stuff… hahahaha… but yea… 2.25" then since im spending money?

2.5" downpipe it is then… but i’ll eventually have a Y pipe sooner or later…

are upgrading the injectors really nesessary since im stickin at 6psi?

Injectors are always a necessity if you don’t go teh FMU route. need extra fuelnig soemhow. can’t go past max duty cycle on stock inejctors :stuck_out_tongue:

You should look into the Moates burn me burner. it’s not too expensive. www.moates.net or .com coesm with software or you can dl it off thee site. Ben/I/anyone could make you a BASEMAP but that’s abotu it. a basemap :stuck_out_tongue:

hummmmmmmmmmm… ok, i’ll check out that link tomorrow… so for a setup of 6 - 10 psi (future maybe) what should be okay? 360cc okay? still obd-0, so that’s peak and hold… right?

and what do u guys think about the .48 compressor trim for the b16a?

basically im guessing i’ll be making okay/good low & midrange power… but how about topend?

That turbo is going to spool soooo fast,
I know the 14B hits full boost at like 3K rpm :shock:

If possible get a T3

Also, go on ebay and get some DSM 450cc injectors, like $50-$100 its cheap but affective

Yah Ditch the fmu and go with uberdata, convert it from obd0 to obd1 if its obd0

Spending money huh? I’m hoping to have a cheap setup,
I’ll be spending about 1,500 for around 225WHP - 250WHP

Just think, a Nuiken (sp?) Turbo maniold is
over $1,000 by itself, thats crazy!

when i had the setup on my other b16, 12psi, full boost hit at about 3300 or 3600 i think… i had 2" chargepiping aswell… and it was open downpipe… literally from downpipe off the turbo, to open air…

injectors, 440cc ? im trying to find out what kind of injectors i need first of all… just to double check…

Peak and hold is OBD0

Saturdaed is OBD1+

Actually, injectors don’t go by OBD. It’s just a coincidence that they switched to saturated after 91 in Hondas. :stuck_out_tongue:

I know that but it’s easier goig that way as chances are he’s using whatever injector system his car originally came in

Easy. Is your car running off the injector resitor box system? If you ahve it. It shpould be at the driver side corner by the firewall. Just behind the strut tower. Looks like a grey rectangle with heat sincs.

it’s a small turbo… Will give good low and mid leaving you wanting more up top. specially after 7000

My input on the turbo is being concerned about it flowing to that 8,200 redline…

yea, i’ve got a peak and hold setup… the resistor box was behind the right side corner, then it ended up being between the brake master cylinder & the side of the engine bay, and now it’s hanging under the intake manifold…

man… i know im going to want top end more then anything… i’ll search around for a bigger turbo at least a .57 comp trim, but if i wont be able to find one, i’ll stick with this one…

well, one of my other concerns is about the piping size differences…

from the 2" diameter of the turbo, to 2.25" of the chargepiping, into the 2" intercooler, out of the 2" intercooler, into the throttle body… would couplers be okay for that? where could i find those clamps that uses the T style bolt & nut? i hate those regular style clamps… they just plain suck imo…

the compressor side of the turbo is fine, its the exhaust side. a .48 is even sightly restrictive on 7200rpm LS’s. on a 8200 B16a it is really going to choke. with a small turbo like that, a .82 turbine housing would work great.

cringe buy a burner and a wideband, then charge your friends to tune. Aaaaand dont convert to obd1. Use BRE.

yeah the b16 is such a great flowing motor. what the compressor side .60??? I would recomend at least a t3/t4 stage lll turbocharger. as far as fuel a walbro 255 pump and some blue cap dsm injectors will do you fine up to 300hp. as far as tuning turboedit is a software program for the obd-0. im thinking about running this I jsut need to find someone that is familiar with tuning it. the exhaust should at leaset be a 2.5 or bigger. And definetly get rid of the cat. I hate the cat and a small exhaust. Me personally would run an open dp before I run 2.25 exhaust. with these tools you would have a fast b16.
