Im looking at doing a rebuild on my motor and possibly planing for boost but im unsure. If i do decide to boost it, it will be on a stock rebuilt motor. How much boost can you run safely on a b17? i know the compresion ratio is fairly low, like 9.7 to 1 or something like that, but how much will that handel on a daily driven car? If i do this, i’d like to hit 250-300hp safely, and advice is awsome, thanks guys.
you can hit 300whp on a B series engine with no problem. it’s a good idea however to at least install ARP headstuds and a new OEM head gasket.
since your rebuilding the engine i highly recommend getting some forged pistons/rods at least. it’s not expensive and at your hp level it will be very reliable. your head will be fine stock.
i was planning on using arp fasteners where ever i can, and as far as buying pistons, is there someone that makes a forged stock piston?
most likely. there are many companies that make pistons in many compression ratios. i don’t know them by heart but if you do a little search you will find them pretty easily.
you should be good for 12 lbs of boost with a good tune stock internals ran a b16 12lbs for like 3 years and b20vtec/12lbs boost for 6 years just be sure that you get some arp rod bolts and head studs because last thing you need is a blown motor! because you cheaped out on some bolts!

Cool guys, Thanks for the info, keep it coming!!
