ok so i had a thread on here for the appearance/cosmetic build aspect for my car. well that is finished now. so now im looking to go faster and the route im deciding on going considering i can get great parts locally is going to be turbo with a 500shot of nitrous tuned down to a 100shot.
the only reason im getting a 500shot is because my buddy is willing to sell it to me for a 1/3 of what its actually worth. if i just turn it down then ill be good with lots of nitrous on reserve.
i have a friend with a SR20DET F/I 240SX thats going to sell me his spare turbo for cheap also. we just raced last night from a 1st gear dig… it was awesome side by side till 4th gear and he started to barely walk. made me really want turbo to go even faster.
so this is where it starts…
i have a 91 Acura Integra GS with a 96 B18c1 motor. pretty much stock except for bolt ons/exhaust and a ecu tune.
within the next year or so im going to be piecing together a good motor setup and turbo setup…
before i start the turbo setup build im going to be replacing gaskets and alot of head components to have a reliable build.
im going to try to move as fast as i can on this build but without sacrificing quality. all work will be done in house.
im looking for suggestions/ideas/insights/opinions on anything that pertains to building a fast reliable turboed nitrous’d DA. pics will be coming as progress evolves.
sounds like u have a plan.but you need to have a hp goal and deside if its going to be a street car or track car… …but while building ur first turbo setup look into the turbo guide thats a sticky in this section there is a lot of good reading there ,it helped me out allot on my first build…sence then ive been chasen the high hp # by upgrading…with a good turbo build you wont need nitrous…key components will be turbo kit (wastgate,b.o.v,manifold,intercooler,down pipe,TURBO) .injectors,CLUTCH,fuel pump, and a good TUNE!! are you planning on building the motor with aftermarket internals??or keeping it stock??GL with the build …but i have to WARN YOU BOOST IS ADDICTING…LOL
Hey DAprojectTuRtle, sounds like a wicked project you got there. I’ve got a boosted/nitroused da, and in reguards to your project, i may be of some assistance:up:
First, what type of nitrous kit is it? wet/dry/direct port/etc?
Second, what car was it meant for? is it universal?
and last, but prob most important, what type of managment system are you using to control fuel, timing, etc?
Other supporting mods to consider would be an FPR, bigger fuel pump(walboro 255 hp) open exhaust, and some form of ignition amplifier (msd, kenne bell boost a spark, etc…)
As I’m sure you are aware, b18c’s have pretty high compression in comparison to say an ls which LOVE nitrous, thats the good news
But if you are turbocharging it as well, you are gonna throw a s@#t-ton of cyl pressure and heat at the same time into your block that, if stock is going to have a very short shelf life.
That said, money, and lots of it, come into play.
If money is not an issue, your life rocks:up:
But for those on a budget, i would reccomend at least arp headstuds, and a quality management system and tune (hondata, neptune, etc)
hope this helps. jasper-
thanks bro, yeah i just picked up a hondata S200… for my tuning needs. as for the nitrous it is a wet direct shot. im thinking of just upgrading fuel setup, tb, im and boosting 8lbs. money is definitely tight so im tryna do it right lol
I see, good choice on the hondata, i am using one as well.
Direct port, good stuff:up: as i recall you can run some of the nitrous controls through your hondata by your tuner when the time comes.
Traction(depending on engaugement/shot) and longevity will be fighting you, but you can be sure, turbo+nitrous is a f@#kin’ blast!
To get the best out of your nitrous setup, i would address these things:
open up your intake-
upgrade your ignition/spark plugs-
open up your exhaust-
bigger fuel pump/injectors ex:walboro 255lph/ 440/1000cc inj
TUNE-
regulate nitrous/bottle pressure(heater/or blanket or both)
Enjoy!
Good luck, and if you have any questions, lemme know Jasper-
