agreed. b20’s will crack the sleeves and thats never fun. they are a weak motor and would be my last choice to boost. if you want a 2L then sleeve a b18 and over bore it.
the sleeves are in the block, an LS head will solve nothing, the sleeves will still crack
if your stuck on a B20 though, my friend has a pretty quick B20 hatch with a GSR head, he’s rebuilt it twice because of the sleeves but its still pretty quick
my friend had a b20 turbo on 7psi for a year with no problem. all you have to do is check the clearance on everything , make sure there isnt much piston slap on the sleeves. and get a good tune(very important). try to get an engine with very low miles and maybe a block guard. also try to keep the revs under 7500.
ok, well i have a jdm b20b in my 92 ls. i smoke every b18a or b18b teg in my town. we have local car meets and no stock honda or teg will race me, i even beat out a 2000 or newer acura cl and hung with an rsx type s and i just have a custom exhaust, short throw shifter and msd blaster coil. i havent had any trouble with my motor yet an dim bout to install headers, test pipe cat, cams, bigger fuel pup bigger injectors and im goin turbo’d during the winter. ill agree with the thin sleeves comment bc they r, thats a fact but with a very good tune ive seen them last over 2 years runnin 13psi daily and 18 at the track. one of my best friends has a boosted b20, he has a very good tune from a guy in houston tx. he kills everyone out here except a cobalt ss with exhaust and high boost pulley and the cobras

That ^ does not sound like fun…or reliable.
“get a good tune” ← that seems to be the cure all phrase. A good tune will not cure an inferior combination of parts.
Not to doubt that a B20 did not last 2 years on boost… it’s totally possible, just not common.
The B18B would be a better choice.

not if ur built. as to the b20 guy listing his mods…well thats nice. i’m sorry to say but this is talking boosted. ur na as of right now and that has nothing to do with this thread. boost is best!
why dont u turbo the stock b18 at 100k and then build a shortblock, or just wait and do everything at once? if there is any better way to do it than that please enlighten me bc apparently ive learned nothing after 15 fast cars. personally im using a reasonable shot of nitrous on my stock shortblock b20, and building a shortblock for boost on the side. thats not a bad way to do it. good luck!
take this mans advice about building a block on the side at least
my last build took my daily driver down for almost 5 months because i was gonna do it all at once, then things started getting held up in the machine shop, parts ordered were wrong, etc, turned into a nightmare
one thing i might add about nitrous on the stock b20 shortblock. i am running race gas. my car is a racecar. i drive it on the street sometimes. i thought id throw that in. i wouldnt recommend 100shot on a stock b20 on pump gas.
