B20z Teg in SC

Bought the DA and a week later blew the motor due to bad rings. Just bought a b20z2 9.6:1 comp wich puts down like 146 hp and 133 tq. Its got 80k miles on it. Payed 850 for it. Looks great. pulled out of a 2001 CRV. I think it will get the teg moving a little faster. Should be done by the end of the week. I will update with pics of install and how it drives once done.

Found some bad news when i pulled the motor out.

the front end has been wrecked. Thats why the paint doesnt match the door jams and why my headlights are lazy eyed.

this is depressing

still dropping the b20 in and DD while i work on my mirage. i might end up finding an eg hatch shell to drop the b20 into later on. no promises now though

ordered a oem exedy clutch from clutchcityonline.com and a new flywheel. since my flywheel’s teeth were ate up and and pressure plate had bad heatspots on it. this should be done by the beginning of next week. i dont like unexpected things like this. it always delays progress lol

ugggh, same thing happened with my car.
i might take a strap winch to it, mine isnt too bad off. only way to tell is from the hood not matching up with the bumper in the center. i could probably fix that too.
but my car was 92, horizon gray, repainted black. with a broken driver side fender and pass side fendor was off a white teg and repainted.

irritating to keep finding shit like this on my car, and i do keep finding new shit. just glad the engine is strong.

good god almighty this car was rigged like the packers winning the superbowl. lol the fuel pump and fan were wired into the fuse box to come on when the key is turned. and the starter was straight wired to a toggle switch.

i rewired the fan to the cruise control switch. so i can cut it on and off as i please
i got and actual push start brass button for the starter. since the ACTUAL wires still dont work.
i had no choice but to wire the fuel pump to the fuse box.

it all works. and it looks better than it did. no more speaker wires lol

the motor runs great. pulls pretty good for light throttle. i cant really get on it since the car is ungodly loud. i beilieve it is from all the ugly bends in the piping. It looks like 2.25 from header back to a knock off n1. there is a cat but i did not see if it was gutted. It came like this when i bought it. i was thinking of throwing a thrush turbo muffler from the auto store on there to quiet it down. since it worked on my other car. any thoughts on a quieter exhaust setup?

Sounds like she was is realy bad shape when you picked her up. how bad is the strutual damage? Atleast for the time being your happy with the motor. B20s’ make for fun ride :smiley:

i think they gut the original front support off straightened it out and welded it back on because its still a little off. but overall that motor pulls hard. I think i have either a b16 trannny or gsr tranny because at 80 mph i was a hair over 3750 rpm.

i got the stock transmission and at around that speed im maybe a bit over 4000rpms, or close to it.

yeah that’s a stock ls transmission. i have a ys1 gsr and it rev’s at 3500rpm at 100km/h, 4000rpm at 120km/h
