Pull stuff out one by one and have someone sitting there saying Still on… still on… faint… still on… it sucks, but look where I found it, no way I could have did it without my friend sitting there
I don’t have anyone here to help me
your from california man… do a g2 owner search on g2ic, you’ll come up with a billion and one… offer free beer for help on a afternoon and you’ll get at least 20 hits… theres like me and another guy on this forum I know that are active from my province (manitoba)
Could do it at night, or in a dark garage. Just make the test light is bright enough to see throu the gap in the hood. Ive learned to work alone also. Changed shocks, Put mounts on, all the jobs you should have a friend help you with.
yeah or just get a wire long enough to extend the light into your car
Matty- do you have Automatic seatbelts?
Yes, i do. I wonder if its something with that? Sometimes I notice my seat belt light flashes very lightly sometimes while I’m driving. It’s not an ICU problem though.
I have novel on my draw in the electical section which is on the other page.
First off, how did you determine you have a draw? did you test the current draw on the battery? If you know the “pull fuses one by one test” then you’ll pinpoint where the short is. Or parasitic draw.
Let me know.
Well, after about 1-2 days of letting my car sit the battery is drained down to about 10 volts. If I drive the car everyday it doesn’t drain of course. This is a pretty new few month old battery from Autozone (Autozone Gold battery). I had to get one replaced already because it couldn’t hold a charge so they replaced it. It seems like this battery is doing the same. Friday, I’m going to see if the battery can hold a charge to rule that out. Then I’ll start to check for draw again.
yah. Something electrically is sucking the juices from the bat. I’d say stop replacing batteries. Start pulling fuses one by one to find the draw.
My draw comes from the auto seat belt system. After I removed the connectors from the auto seat belt control module, the draw went away totally. I know its a copper exposed or crimp in the wiring. Haven’t got time to take things apart though.
Even if the belts work fine, it can still have a short or cause draw?
yeah sucks, but it is possible… like in my situation, everything was working fine, still had draw
Yes. My seatbelts work fine. Try disconnecting the module then test the draw. Let us know
Acceptable draw should be 0.02 from 0.04. It will never be zero. You have the ECU on all the time. OR the clock.
When i checked for drain it said 0.29 to 0.25, then i checked it again and it went down to 0.10ish. It kept jumping up and down. I’ll start taking out fuses and the automatic seat belt module soon.
EDIT: Battery tested dead so i got it replaced. After getting new battery my drain now is 0.35. I assume that’s way over it should be. Tomorrow I will be testing each fuse by taking them out and testing draw on each and pin point this drain!
has to be .0something
Do you have a 12V test light, [not the LED type]?
If so, use it for the test instead, if test light comes on at all the drain is too high. 94
No, I don’t have a test light, but I may just go buy one. Also, I noticed for a while as my battery drain kind of started that my seat belt light would stay on as I’m driving. When I get home later on I’ll be checking this stuff out a lot.
If you have automatic seat belts make sure you buckle the strap to the seat belt track. The light will stay on if its not buckled or locked in place on the track.
Okay, so I tested all the fuses today with the multimeter and it seems that the fuse with Clock, Interior Light, and Cigarette Lighter is drawing a drain I think. It tests from .06 to .07 constantly switching. Other fuses were 0.00 to 0.01. So, it seems that either my clock, interior light, and or cigarette lighter is drawing power.
I did not unplug the seat belts yet though because it doesn’t seem like that’s the problem. After I take out the clock, interior light, cigarette lighter fuse the draw goes to .00 to 0.01. What could the problem be regarding the clock, interior light, and cigarette lighter? wiring of them or what?
For reference, I checked the draw on my sisters stock DA and it was 0.05 exactly on draw. Mine is 0.06 to 0.07 now for some reason. Also, I noticed when I check it the draw starts high then goes down after a second, is that normal?
Any thoughts on my previous post? FCM, where are you!!
