It’s about time for me to change my 205/45/16 Kumho 712s and am considering switching to BFs, which offer a higher treadwear rating (340) than the Kumhos (280). I live in Hawaii, so it’s not like severe weather conditions are a major concern. Tire Rack sells both tires for just about the same price ($71 and $73 per tire). Any opinions on which one I should go with?
havent had either but ive driven 712’s. personally i’d try the bfg’s just to see how different they are. if not, i would want to know how stiff the sidewalls are in comparison if possible. sidewall stiffness will determine handling/comfort and if soft, launch better… there’s always a tradeoff.
the g force sport are BAD ASS!
which is weird for BF goodrich cus they normally suck ass
i bounght them worried, than the hyway onramp calmed my worries!
try the bf’s
I’m not a big fan of my Khumos
the 712s work really well for me and kick more ass in rain for some reason, so imo up to you
The Kumhos can’t handle rain, and the BF’s are extremely loud. For a 280 treadwear rated tire, the Kumhos aren’t that sticky. I don’t know too much about the BF’s though other than they’re loud (Tire Rack representative told me this over the phone). If you’re looking for a 205/45/16, get the Fuzion ZRi tire. I got a set for 380 installed with the warranties. Way better than either of those tires, becuase it’s a rebadged Bridgestone Potenza (once again, straight from the Tire Rack rep) RE750. The RE750 retails for about 125 a tire. So the Fuzion is a steal.
i live hawaii to and have had kumho’s… right now ive got a set of yokohama avid H4S on my rims in the same size you have… so far so good… i was just looking for a tire with high treadwear that can handle rain(sicne we get a lot of it) but ive only been on them for two days…
i do hear a lot of good things about yokohamas tho. although i do hear a lot about noise complaints which i can vouch for on the yokohama AVS ES 100’s… but then again the kunhos are pretty loud to
Basically don’t waste your money on the Kumho 712’s, Yokohama Paradas, Yokohama AVSES100’s, or the BFG.
The yokohama parada spec-2’s are not a bad tire for thier price. Check them out here: http://www.discounttiredirect.com/direct/findTireDetail.do?sw=false&cs=205&pc=41440&rd=16&ar=45
They handle great in dry weather and good in wet weather. For $80 a tire, its not bad.
NO THEY ARE NOT a good tire. I had a set for a year, wore them out, and they SUCK. Once they get worn down they CANNOT handle any standing water whatsoever. I almost lost control of my car on the freeway during some rain, and I will never buy Paradas for another street tire. On top of that, they’re way too loud. Go to http://www.tirerack.com and buy some Fuzion ZRi’s. Really.
Yokohama Parada Review
Pros:
Dry grip
Handling response
Cons:
Noisy
Unsafe when in standing water
If you don’t believe me, check the Tire Rack customer reviews (bad only, the good ones are from idiots switcing from allseason tires to the paradas). Also, check http://www.honda-tech.com and read the bad reviews.
The Pro Tire Rack Sales Man :giggle:
Of course. The salesmen actually know technical data on the tires. Les Schwab has a bunch of morons working there, along with Discount Tire. I talk to the Tire Rack reps, get the price, then go locally to find a better price.
why are you even talking to these guys :hmm: talk to some people that have the tires. all they want to do at these places is tell you to buy the more pricey tire. i would know because i use to work at kal tire and %90 of the people there dont know how to spell tire :giggle: check honda tech that way you know that the people have drivien on the tire
Actually TireRack told me to get the cheap Fuzions over their expensive RE750 counterpart.
And for the record, I’ve driven or autocrossed on most of these tires
Autocrossed on:
Parada Spec2
Kumho 712
Various other tires too, can’t remember the names
Driven Daily on:
Parada Spec2
Fuzion ZRi
wish i had money to buy alot of tires :bawl:
What the fuck are you talking about? Did I say that I dont have the tires?
fuzion, never heard of them. what does wal-mart sell them :giggle:
If you want an excellent tire: BFgoodrich g-Force T/A KDW-2…
Actually no you dumb fuck. They’re a rebadged Bridgestone RE750. The only place around here that carries them is Firestone Tire. Other than that http://www.tirerack.com is the only place. They’re a Bridgestone you dumbass.
I’ve heard really good things about those tire, but they’re pricey. If money is no object, the Goodyear Eagle F1 GS is a great tire. Also the Bridgestone Potenza RE750, but is also expensive.
