Not sure, but the ITR brakes feel MUCH heavier than stock and I’ll take everything I can get. I even drilled out the spot welds for all the misc brackets in the back of the car (seats…etc), removed extra wires while doing my swap, swiss cheesed my ECU cover/protector… anything I can do will all add up.
Damn that’s taking it pretty far, haha. Have you thought about a side exit exhaust that comes out farther towards the front of the car? I’m sure you have jdm bumper supports already too right? Those are a pretty good weight saver. Maybe even a traction bar? They’re insanely light compared to the OEM crossmember.
thanks guys for the info! ill start looking into getting my hands on the calipers and such
I have to run a fairly quiet exhaust to stay in street class, but I do want to ditch my RSR in favor of something larger in dia and lighter hopefully. Yup, bumper supports are Jdm, although it sorta worries me, wish I had a little more crash protection up front. Is your traction bar lighter than stock? Mine is basically the same weight (Full Race). I think the ideal setup would be a custom modified stock one.
My avid bar was significantly lighter than the OEM unit. Like 1/2 or even 1/3 of the weight. I haven’t gotten my esp bar yet so I can’t comment on its weight.
Sucks about the noise restriction, I’m sure there’s still some weight that could be shed by changing the exit point though.
Really? That makes me worried the Avid could be dangerous, or maybe it’s a superior design. My layman knowledge isn’t all that good on which would be the truth.
Haha I don’t know either. The design doesn’t look THAT much different from the fullrace desig except the fullrace has an extra mounting point per side compared to the avid. Perhaps the fullrace utilizes a solid bar and the avid uses a hollow bar? Idk, just speculating.
FR is definitely hollow, wall thickness is where the big weight difference would be I’m guessing - assuming that the radius rods and rod ends are of similar weight.
i do have an esp traction bar it wasnt too heavy from what i remember.
My esp bar is lighter than the OEM unit but its definitely heavier than the avid bar is.
ok i’m reading this and maybe i missed it in reading but it looks like the s2000 calipers would be more available than any other calipers out. i want to install these on my RS DB1. what brackets would i need? would i need bracket plates to mount s2000 calipers? what rotors would i need or are the 07 mini cooper rotors be usable w/ this setup?
the caliper in my DB1 is seized so i’d just like to upgrade since it’s seized up. OH…and the brake lines…i can use s2000 brake lines correct? clearance on blades will i have an issue?
thanks in advance for the input
anyone
My guess would be that the s2000 calipers will not fit under a factory 15" wheel - but I could be mistaken. It’s been a while since I’ve looked into the specifics of what’s needed for the s2000 setup so I don’t want to steer you wrong. You should just search, there’s tons of info and you could have had your answer by now if you’d searched instead of waiting for an answer here. Also, a tip, there’s a user named Brake Expert on Honda-tech and he’s posted a lot of good info, I think he also sells a lot of stuff for brake upgrades. Lastly, I’m doubtful that the s2000 caliper is more plentiful than the ITR/Legend, but I’m not 100% sure on that. There were a lot of cars that used the ITR/Legend calipers over the years.
the questions ive asked dont seem to show in the search function that i used to find this thread. but i’ll find that username on honda-tech and see what i can find in regards to this caliper swap
why not start with the basics like better brake pad, tires and suspension.
what tires and wheels do you have on now. without the right suspension or wheels you cant stop anything.
sigh typical g2ic replies thanks for the ‘help’ guys
Great attitude!
good to know this forum has turned into the worst version of team integra
What did you expect? These guys are giving you honest advice. Why do you want to put S2000 calipers on your car? They more than likely assume your tracking it. People upgrade brakes to increase stopping power when the factory stuff can’t handle the task anymore. Street tires are not going to over work stock brakes. Even with a track pad.
100% sure that my question wasn’t for advice
