BLKACK1's Build Thread

love it all!! i deff wanna see exactly how you do the catch can set up cause i am wanting to put a catch can on mine

hearing you say that makes me fell alot better about welding it to the block. ive just herd that because the block is cast aluminum that sometimes the weld wont take but Im leaning towards that route at this moment.
LOL you better turn up the boost. You dont wanna get beat by a NA @ this altitude.

I like this idea. I would not put anymore money into that B18a than needed…but i know how you like things Glynn so do what you think is best.
well just have to see about that!!! yeah being anal retentive sucks sometimes

 fingers crossed that you dont have to wait long for that update.

if the welds don’t hold it’s probably cause the welder isn’t that great. i had a welded in block guard in my ls/vtec and it worked out amazing. also the oil feed in my vtec head was welded shut. i’ve also seen him weld the coolant port on the intake side of the head without any problems.

You certainly have one of the most inspiring threads that this website has to offer. Your build has inspired me to finish up my long lost project that I have neglected to finish for many long months . But anyways just to help you out a bit from a honda tech to another. I’ve drained the cooling system by loosening that nut that has special threads at the front part of the block. And Everytime I’ve loosened that damn nut I couldn’t for the love of god get it back on No matter how much I tried and yes at times it felt like the threads at the block were stripped. But if you’ve worked on hondas long enough you know how to NOT to strip a bolt or a stud. Now from experience what I have done and it worked for me after some trial & error is to go to honda and buy a new one if possible, and use honda-bond because if you don’t the damn thing will leak. And some of the one’s I did, had a small leak but it dried up whithin a day or so. Once the honda-bond dries then you should be ok. But after you apply honda-bond on the bold threads install it right away. The reason the bolt wont go in it’s because the threads on the block & on the bolt get contaminated from the minerals of the water in the cooling system. So you might have to force the bolt like I did, and It may feel like you are stripping it but you aren’t. You’re just going through the minerals which almost feel like rust and if it stays open long enough it can rust. Good luck to you and I hope you can fix it but honestly you shouldn’t have to re-thread it cause it’s very common thing that happens to honda blocks whith age. Send me a mssg if you have any questions if not you can also
e-mail me.

i hope it all comes together for you man i agree with da one this thread is inspirational.

Well that I can assure you will Not be the case. ive put to much time, effort and money into this to skimp on quality.

Haha will do. Freeze plugs, Rabi’s bits, battery. The battery in the gsr is dead but I can let you pilfer the one in the rs. hehe

Call me when you get a chance!

AAARRRRRRRR, me favorite things to do are Pilfer and Pilage  thanks for your help last weekend buddy. speaking of, on with the updates!!!

Just for the record. Carl keeps shit Gangsta…

Started out the day by removing the distributor and starter for rebuild.

Doing the starter is as simple as removing the 3 bolts and pulling out the plunger. after replacing the 2 contacts, clean up the contact area on the plunger and reinstall…

Just had to transfer a couple of screws from one distributor to the other.

While Carl was on that project I removed and replaced all 4 rear lower subframe bolts with new locktighted bolts.

once we were done with that, we moved on to installation of the injectors.

I got a little heavy handed while depining the pigtails so had to order a new pigtail set to replace the part I broke. came home to it sitting on my porch yesterday.

be careful people, these little things brake easily…

Got the old breather setup out and what we could of the new one in

swapped out map sensor

Also got both 90-91 horn mounts removed and soon they will be preped to move towards the center of the lower support where they will get rewelded and used as the lower intercooler mounts.

Started the day with a long list of to-do’s and in the end knocked most of it out. thanks again buddy

I also place another vac line order. The wg is such a tight fit around the fitting that I can get a wrench in there to tighten up the fitting so I pick up one that you can insert an allen wrench into along with a couple different size couplers in a effort to find one that will slip and hold on to the IM prts for the map and FPR.

were exactly did you find the B&R A/N fitting with the bracket on it i see the fittings but none with that bracket

:bump: for some PROGRESS!

I had no idea that pic was going to be on the internets. Ima hide in a corner now :stuck_out_tongue:

Glad it’s moving along GLynn. It was a bunch of fun and nice to give back some work after receiving so much on my car. We’ll be doing this a few times this spring so keep that spare room ready. Next time you supply the propane I’ll bring a cooler full of meat n stuffz. Maybe a little enticement to get Agazzi Fares and Rabi over :stuck_out_tongue:
