BLKACK1's Build Thread

Good to see that it’s coming along. There’s so much to do at the beginning and so many issues to deal with but one by one they get done. Looks good man.

Shoulda brought it to me up in Boulder, brother! I’d have driven it with no problems. Most of these punks don’t know how to drive for shit on a dynamometer, and piss their pants when the car torque steers, or gets squirrelly. Plus the high turnover rate in this company means nobody’s been there long enough to master it. Me, minus the 8 month break I was in PA, have been 3+ years with the company now.

What up fellow G2 peoples

Im still here and have been really enjoying the boosted teg. on my second oil change:rockon: wish i had time to update everyone over the last 7 months. Maybe one day ill get caught up on my updates here, However. Got a couple teasers for you guys.

On a Side note. Im gonna be in the Fort Lauder dale. FL area from May 4th to the 10 th for work, I would love to meet some of the people I’ve connected with on here and check out some the rides I’ve admired over the years. If your game, shoot me an email or hit me up on my cell and lets set something up.

??? welcome back

Boost always keeps a car fun. Feels time to add some more fun to my DA again. Hahaha

Glad to still see you around and kicking!

X 2! welcome back…

Manifold and downpipe should be finished. We installing this weekend?

Quick update

Blew the head of my synopsis wg. Bought a tial. Pulled it all apart too have it all reelected. Reinstalled, now I got a misfire… errrr

Also finished my catch can and had a couple other items powder coated

There you are lol that sucks on what happen to the head dude hope u get that misfire fixed.

I love this build.
I wish I would have found it sooner cause I have been in Colorado since November now im heading back east on Wed.
I just finished reading the entire build and I only have two things that I think should be mentioned.
1st is if you want to go back to the VC breather hoses on the front of the cover then you should get the 96-01 ls/b20 vc, it is taller than the a1 vc.
Second is you should definitely be preparing for a bottom end rebuild after that oil pump failure and that crazy amount of shavings in the pan. I am sure that those shavings got pushed through the crank.

other than that this build is a big inspiration for me to get my teg finished when I get home. you have also helped me decide to finally do an LS turbo build.

keep up the great work.

Greetings All

its been many moons since ive had an opportunity to get on here but I just had to check in and let every one know what Ive been up to.

for starters, Tom. Thank you very much for the kind words. Im always down to meet up with fellow g2’er so drop me a line any time. I solved the problem by actually moving both ports to the top of the motor to utilize the stock baffle. came out really well… lastly, your spot on about the bottom end. My misfire ended up turning out to be a rod knock on the number 3 rod. will post carnage pics later.

Since then… old motor has since vacated the premise and I have recently acquired a built motor(long story about the seller) that has eagle rod, JE pistons, brian crower stg2 boost cams all including blox intake mani with an aem fuel rail drop in ready including a stage five clutch and fresh stock fly whell. picked the whole lot for less then 2 grand. took what i saved from talking him down cause of the lack of a diff and spend the money on a syncro tech carbon syncro transmission rebuild kit. Traded the blox mani and fuel rail for services rendered on rebuilding of the transmission which also included the instalation of the baller speed factory SCHA.

On with the pics

freshly powder coated parts

New WG

Tial recomends a minimum of 1/4 ID tubing so had to redo my fittings

Decided since I was already cash deep into my transmission, might as well splurg on some thing ive always wanted. a fastline shifter along with the new SCHA

Freshly resurfaced ACT street lite flywheel and stage 5 comp clutch.

MAXBORE throttle body. pluged the bottom port, removed the CC linkage connection and bored out to 63mm.

Motor finally in place

Manifold on and plumbed in. cat removed and strait pipe installed for the tuner to have a little more fun.

Cam profile

Almost there. Car is all back together, fluids installed. all im in need of is my hondata back from my buddy whos been using it for his boosted f22 1987 prelude. Thing is a beast:giggle:

Still need to tourqe and steak axel nuts, wheel lugs, prime oil system, set ignition timing and bleed the collant system. then start and break in the new motor:rockon:

stay tuned. trying to get this thing retuned real soon!!!

Looking good man glad to see everything coming back together. Let me know how that speedfactory scha feels. I have everything new and top notch but still have this annoying side to side loose and I know its my shifter moving in the trans. I believe this fixes it right? When I drive newer b series trans they don’t have the internal loose that mine has.

whats is SCHA beside the fast line shifter?

Awesome updates sir. All is looking good and I’m very relieved to see that knock dealt with!..

My only concern or issue is the nylon/plastic vacuum lines… Ewwww! Lol.

Otherwise, top notch all around brother!

Niice updates! Sorry to hear about the engine issue  I’m glad you got everything resolved. …did you install an LSD while the trans was out?

It’s a beefed up version of the original, Shifts feel a lot more crisp but it’s a whole new transmission so whos to say that’s solely attributed to that.

Lol, That’s what makes it great, I can switch up any color I want…  personaly still want to clean them up and tuck them a little more

You know it, The Mfactory went in.

I cant believe its been 9 months since my last post, So much to update.
Great news is car runs great, pulls hard and not even remotely close to being slow anymore. There have been some teething issues that ive had to deal with, and more power was made. Even got a little track time in. Hope you enjoy.
Back in July, I started smelling coolant occasionally while out giving her some test shakedown and one day while out cause became very obvious when I return back to work with a check engine light and a trail of coolant. The large coolant port on the IM became loose and came completely out. I Didn’t actually get around to fixing it for a couple months. Just periodically had to check in on it.

Took a drive out to pueblo to pick up these bad boys, even got a spare front set. Not the cleanest but not bad

Was coming home from work and a mile from my house I blew up a raxle, Wasn’t even putting it through hell when I broke. Was doing 2 mph coming around the corner and the car just lost all forward movement. Five years, multiple track days, and just plain out being beat on relentlessly. Very happy with them. Put in a set of OEM axels to get me by, Going to send them back to Marty for rebuild to keep around as spares.

Wanted to attend the street tuner shoot out at bandimere and see what kind of times she would put down boosted, nothing impressive. No traction, low boost problems, light and weather issue but ran a steady 15.8 and made it through the day and drove it home… With as many car that broke that day.

just happy to get it home without a tow.

In preparation of what I had planned on running way faster and did not want them putting a kibosh on my runs after my first one. NHRA rules sate I need a battery box and kill switch…. As much as I didn’t want to do it. I tried to keep it as low key as possible.

And of course 12 psi and 230 hp just wasn’t gonna cut it. So since I have this fully built motor, lets turn it up. Sadly. because of my persistence about staying on pump gas. Boost is pretty much maxed out at 16 psi but with a smooth power band and 339 HP, Im happy(for the time being) Traction is already an issue on concrete, I need new tire for sure…

Vids…

Still dealing with a small leak at the turbo too radiator coolant return line and a slight exhaust leak at the turbo. I Striped the threads on my tbolt for the down pipe while trying to repair the collant leak and as of yesterday, Im hearing a fluttering sound when getting off of the throttle. BOV appears to be sticking closed. Looks like I’ve got lots of winter projects and upgrades to make:up:

I like the valve cover vents

Thanks, Had to think outside the box in order to control the slung oil from entering the hoses.
