I have a Turbo XS type H RFL. Its tee’d between the FPR and the manifold. I took my car for a ride and its boosting about 3.5 to 4 psi. Am i not boosting enough to open it? I saw a video of someone just revving up there car and the BOV was working. Im not sure whats wrong…please help
Please guys…help me out
Are you sure you’re tee’d into the FPR and not the MAP sensor? The lines for those two run right next to each other and are easy to get mixed up. If you’re tee’d to the MAP sensor you won’t have a good source. It should be opening even when you’re approaching 0 psi.
so it doesnt need load to make it work? just rev’s"
If you just free rev high enough in neutral, you won’t build any boost but the turbo is still moving enough air to open the BOV.
loosen the piston on the bov…then when you drive it put in 2nd,let it bog a little, pull it up to like 4-5k until you see your boost go up the let off completly. you have to put a load on the turbo for it to boost.
Yes you have to put a load on it to build boost, but you do not need to build boost for the BOV to open.
yeah i was testing my BOV without my turbo in the car and the vacuum created was enough to make it open.
This is also an XS H RFL bov but ive connected it where the PCV hose and relocated the PCV. The PCV port on IM is way bigger and i think it helps to open it.
how do i loosen yhe piston? i dont have any washers in right now
ok i just tee’d off the brake booster and it works around 5000rpm. does that sound about right? sounds awesome though…thanks guys
Saying that it works at around 5000 rpm doesn’t really mean anything. It depends on load and boost pressure. Whenever you’re at 0psi or higher it should open regardless of the rpm.
more rpm creates more vacuum, but as soon as you build boost, then its useless.
