Build B20 Turbo

I was reading the searches and the only flaw i found was the B20 has weaker sleeves. If I resleeved it and put in a T04 turbo with 10PSi of boost will the B20 be able to handle it with stock internals an run between 250 - 300whp?

gaddamn! try lower boost for a while when you start out… Weaker sleeves and cylinder walls are the dominant flaws…

again, try some low boost for smaller numbers before you go big… go for something like 225-250

What would a B20 be able to push out with only 8psi of boost, LS tranny, and cam gears?

What other motor could I get that is worth its price and will be able to put down 220-300whp with 8PSI and camgears?

you’d be safer boosting any b18c rather than a b20…

8 psi, cam gears would get you around 200-220

Is a B18C worth the price of the engine?

C1(USDM gsr)- yes
C (JDM SiR-G)- kinda
C-R (JDM Type R) - yes/kinda
C5: (USDM Type R) Not really…

A B18C1 is able to put down close to 250 whp easily with 8psi of boost right? Since it has 170 hp and 128 lb/ft. Also how much would a USDM B18C1 go for complete swap (CAD)?

A buddy of mine recently put down 280whp/200tq on a 2000 b18C1 @~9psi.

well, the C1 and C5’s stock internals are what pretty much everyone upgrades to.

A b20 stock sleeves is not a great idea. But if resleeved its just like any other resleeved B series… And if your resleeving might as well throw in some pistons and rods IMO…

@ 8psi will depend on the size of turbo for the 300 mark…

Check out evans-tuning.com theres a guy on there that ran 16psi on his b20 for 2yrs… But then again it was hella tuned and made something like 310hp and 290tq…

Theres a guy here (id.) that had a STOCK c1 that put down 395hp & him tuning it with AEM…

C1s are great for boost IMO, but remember anything you go with make sure you get it TUNED! I would rec. Neptune if anyone thats near you can…

Another ? that i would ask is what type of power would you like… OR are you just lookin to make high hp #s???

buddy of mine has crvtec engine (B16 head, B20 bottom) and pushes 407hp at 1.1bar on Garrett T4 and no problems so far. That proves that the sleeves can handle the power, all u need is a top notch tuning.

a stock b20 will handle ~250+ with proper tunning. sleeves crack because of detonation. with a proper tune you won’t have any detonation issues and your b20 will be very happy.

Well I am looking to push about 225-300 hp and I am debating whether to keep my B18A, B20, or a B18C1.

How long have you been driving? I hope you are an experienced driver, because those are some big numbers…

U will get big numbers usually by using a bigger turbo tho… But will sacrifice spool time…

IMO if you have a B18 check the comp and do a leak down on it first, if all looks good then go with that. Ull make good power no matter what and GREAT tq (gotta love ls) and if its bad then replace with what ever you think is best for you… Keep doin your research tho!!!

I would go with C1 thats just MO tho… BUT as the guys stated above the b20 can take boost just make sure you DONT HAVE detonation… detonation is what kills sleeves on ANY motor…

And 400+ on a stock B20 sleeves? Nooo waaaay, i would LOVE to see the dyno sheet… Better yet see the block insides… THATS AMAZING! All i can say is WOW… How long has he had that like that??? evil thoughts start hahaha…

jaylo: Not sayin i didnt belive you. Most anything is poss. escpecially when it comes to hondas… When i said Nooo Waaay as in WOW in Ahhh like, ya understand now? Now if you have the right combo and a super good tune it is possable…

From what i have expleriance and know, the thinner sleeves on B20s ARE WEAKER then a B18s… I know ppl that have cracked there STOCK CRV sleeves and there not even modded and the driving was gransmaish… To me fact is thinner stock B20 sleeves = Weaker. Ive just knowin to many ppl crack them wether it was NA or Boosted…

Now that dyno sheet was on a mustang dyno to? Damn thats nice hes prob acually makin more then, mustangs are bout 10-20hp off compard to a dynojet from what ive seen… That TQ is just SICK! Nice and flat while the topend just peaks… May i ask what is done and what turbo? Seems like he deff got decent spool to… What was the exact TQ if i may ask also? Looks to right @ 280??? Also how long has he been running it like that??

get a b17…u have a low 9.7 compression good for turbo
