Anyone know the bumper bolt thread size?
The bolts that hold the bumper to the support.
which ones?
The ones that hold it to the support. I see them on there.
Why didn’t I think of using the FSM.
if its the ones behind the bumper lights it should be 12mm if not 14
12 mm behind the bumper lights
just go outside with a 8mm 10mm 12mm and 14mm ull b abloe to do just about anything with those sizes lol
i think the head of the bolt is 12 mm (were the socket fit on it) so that mean the bolt is 8 mm an the thread pitch i think it was 1.25 on there or 1.50
yup 12 mM!!
I’m talking about the bolts that hold the bumper cover to the bumper beam/support. Those flat one with the phillips head.
for those, i use locking pliers (vise grips) to break them loose, or use a impact driver with the correct bit.
(top left & bottom left, whichever fits best)
with those, screw drivers, & a 17mm & 19mm, u can almost take apart the whole car
Can’t forget the 32mm for the axles. I would just use vice grips like tegboi said or drill them out. When i took my bumper cover off i drilled them out and replaced them with 10 mm bolts sao it’s easy to take off again.
^^^^ ya i did the same cause those are bitches!
Am I not understanding what you guys are talking about? The flat phillips head bolt/screws which run top to bottom connecting the cover to the support?
I’ve never had a problem with those being difficult to remove, just grab a phillips screwdriver and turn
They are talking about the phillip head screws with the rubber washer on them. Just because you didn’t have a hard time getting them out doesn’t mean that everyone elses car is going to be the same way. lol
Yeah, we’re talking about the same thing. And yes, just because my car wasn’t hard doesn’t mean anything. And that’s why I didn’t reference my car specifically. I’ve owned 4 DA’s and worked on countless others over the past 10yrs, my statement was based on my overall experiences during that time… I wouldn’t have thought it odd that one person was having trouble, but it seemed like everyone posting has had issues, which, as I stated is exactly opposite of ALL my experiences. Maybe I’m just lucky
you must be cause they always give me a problem.
OP the size of that screw is 6MM by 1.00 pitch
keep in mind hes in cali and were all in some sort of colder place with winter and salt and rust and SHIT
Damm you cali people with your nice weather and rust free cars.
You’re damn lucky.
The first DA i worked on, those screws came off easy, but every other bumper I’ve tried to take off has been a bitch. I was grabbing bumper covers from junkyards every weekend (like 5 to 7 bumper covers) for about two months straight and none of those ever came off easy.
I actually had to buy one of those impact drivers just to get by. lol
