Can I boost without a checkvalve/missing link?

I know that I will get a CEL (check engine light) from the map seeing boost.
Will I have any problems with the ECU however or will I just have that annoying light on the dash hehe

if not can someone tell me a clear explanation of how to do the check valve setup untill I get a missing link?

thanks guys

Ian

yeah, go to the thread, “my new turbo” i was told how to do it, its real simple, and no, u cant boost without it. dont get a missing link, the check valves work great at 7 psi on my car

I HIGHLY HIGHLY STRATOUSPHERICALLY recommend you get a Missing Link, it’s the correct part to use, don’t use aquarium supplies on your car. With a Missing Link you don’t have to guess at how many check valve you’ll need and you won’t have a long chain of check valves running around your engine bay.

If you don’t use a check valve at all, yes the CEL comes on but the computer will also go full rich with your air fuel ratios and you’ll waste huge amounts of gas. Running that rich all the time will also ruin spark plugs and o2 sensors, amoung other things.

The correct way to use aquarium check valves is to put them inline with the vacuum line that goes to the MAP sensor, orient them such that air will no be able to flow to the MAP sensor.

I’ve got a missing link let me know if your interested

thanks guys
hey rubens I’ll let you know.
the person I bought at turbo kit off has a missing link and is looking for it.

I hooked it up like you said in the other thread.
if it is like this TT

top left - vacuum inlet
bottom left - TETRA
bottom right - MAP sensor
top right - TETRA

hope it works out. I installed them and I have had no problems but I’m not boosting till later this week
thanks for you time guys and I will take your advice haberdasher but I’m dieing for boost right now hehe

Make sure you have added extra fuel before boosting at least an fmu.:whip:

If your saying that. A missing link isnt the CORRECT way to solve the cel either. I say get 2-3 good flowing check valves(good for at least 10psi) that cost $4-6. Check valves do the same thing as the missing link, to trick the ecu to think you are not boosting.

It’s up to you $6(check valves) vs $50-70(missing link)

IT’S A BLOODY PET SUPPLY!! And where did I say that “A missing link isnt the CORRECT way to solve the cel either”? These pet store check valves are made of low grade plastic that will easily melt, and these check valves are not designed to work under high pressures, they will fail and they look like sh|t. Pop for the $50 check valve you cheap ass bastards, put it on, and never have to worry about it again…

ouch take that ^*(% out your ass and calm down. Missing link is a “BLOODY” aluminum check valve. Ok the missing link is a good looking check valve, happy? I’ll say again, check valves work as well as a missing link. If your that worried about how it looks it’s easy to hide.

Really like that pic, huh Dave?
