Cant drive my Integra...Desperately need help.

Let me give you a little background info on my DA. Bought my integra on February the 19th. Here she was

It was automatic, and had only 114k on it when I got her. Everything was good, until Easter, than the Auto trans went out and I swapped her to a fivespeed.

Drove the 5 speed for a while and it was all great. Than I started putting money into her appearance and basically we come up with this

Now I love my car but I keep having the same damn problem with it and I cant f’ing drive it.

Ive “snapped” 7 axles in the past month. Every axle from Autozone, to Advance auto to Napa to even a brand new OE replacement (which even was a little longer than the reman ones!)

Basically what happens is this

Now I am stumped and pissed because I want to drive my damn car. Heres all the info on it so maybe a miracle worker can post on here and help.

1992 integra
B18A1
A1 cable trans.
SK7 intermediate shaft
Shimmed motor mount. (Motor sags a little towards driver side)
Car IS lowered.
Rest is all stock

If someone could please help Ill love you forever

the motor mounts are your problem

Could that be it because I drove for 3 months with the motor mounted like that?

Lowered suspension also causes alot of havock to the axles. I have seen numerous posts about issues related to dropped suspension and crappy autozone axles etc…

I have heard good things about axles from a company called Raxles http://www.raxles.com/

Few guys on here swear by them. ALso IDK why a mount would be shimmed, but if you have a bad motor mount best to just replace it rather than have it shimmed up. you want the motor to sit as it would if it came off the factory line (or as close to that position as possible lowered suspension aside) COmbine and off center motor with dropped suspension and I bet you could easily deduce what is breaking those things off. ALso make sure you get a professional alignment and balancing done… too much axle vibration could also cause issues with CV joints.

Shimmed motor mount??? WTF is that? that could be your issue, plus being lowered adds more strain to the axle

When you convert from an automatic transmission to a manual transmission you have to compensate for the mount location in the DA engine bay. I shimmed the tranny mount with washers so my motor didnt sit so cock-eyed. Its been done before…

get the correct mount… Auto mounts are different than manual mounts. Shimming and incorrect mount even if it looks like it is dead on doesn’t guarantee that it IS dead on.

unless you resolve the issue by using the correct parts then you most likely have something mis aligned and thus causing or at least being a contributor to your issues.

How motor sits in bay.

Ride height

Axle #7

Passenger side axle

Driver side motor mount

When you convert you should use a manual trans mount not shim it. I’ve never heafd of anyone ever shimming the motor mount

Ive read a few articles where its been shimmed…

Read this, maybe youll see what Im talking about

My only other idea is getting ANOTHER axle and basically cutting it in half and extending it?

Pony up the money and buy a set of Innovative auto to manual mounts(http://www.swapshopracing.com/contents/en-us/d725.html)I would go with the full mount set best bang for your buck changes the entire feel of the car, because your shim setup is straight phucked. And make sure that you are getting the correct side axle. i know where im from only retards and part swapers work at autozone and advance auto parts. every time i got axles it was always the wrong length. if you have a federated parts store get a pair of their axles been running them for years at between -4 to -6 degrees camber and slammed on its face, passenger side was only 60 bucks and made in the US.

Two things.
-do u have roll center adjusters?
-i hope that radius arms bolts are not like that when your driving

Im buying all new mounts. I need them. And no I loosened the torsion bar mounts on accident when I was taking apart the LCA. But anyways. Not to sound like a retard…But what the hell is a roll center adjuster?
And also, I read DC axles + inter shaft are longer than DA ones so if I get the tranny seal for the DC do you guys think that will solve my problem? I see ALOT of people have axle issues, but Ive never seen a solution for them on here.

Never once heard of this issue on a stock car. Rigging up the 5 speed swap is what your problem is.

Can you elaborate? I know what youre saying what can I do to fix it? Im not a 5 star mechanic, or anything lol I work on my car as a hobby and I love driving. I just want to fix it and Im more of a hands on learner so I may have messed a thing or 2 up on the swap but I learned alot from it.

By the way guys I appreciate your help and cooperation.

Well if you have the right mounts ordered then you should be good. Gotta figure if the drive lines not sitting right from the conversion, it’s gonna do this. May look ok but when your driving it and it’s flexing and moving up and down its bound to pull apart.

Ya, I pulled my Inter shaft out justto double check if its the right one, its the SK7-J so thats correct. So hopefully its just a matter of my motor not sitting right.

the part numbers on the axles are the same for the passenger side. now for the driver side you would have to call and ask acura

just run the stock half shaft, and good luck on finding axles seals that work i bought a number of seals from parts stores never fit right always leaked. if you get new seals go straight to honda/acura so far they are the only ones i’ve had work

OK here is alittle info on roll centers

I’d put money on the mounts, I’ve has a few swapped slammed hatchs, integra and never had this problem. I also never did the conversion too, but for the money the right mounts seem the way to go.
