can't feel boost

for some reason when i’m boosting i dont feel the torque or power anymore. thought it was just me so i had my friend ride in the car, he said it felt the same as it was n/a. well i did some datalogs and hooked up a boost gauge and i am definitely boosting 7-8psi. got some advice and someone suggested that my cat was melted and causing a resitriction so i ran open downpipe and still nothing. retarded timing a bit in boost using hondata and still nothing. already checked for leaks and such to no avail. any suggestions as to this problem?

Check to make sure everything is hooked up (intercooler pipes, Vacum lines…)

What wastegate are you using?

I have a td05h 18g and its internally gated. the wastegate actuator has been tested and is working.

compression test? inspect spark plugs?

tested 210 across the board, spark plugs were inspected and regapped but it did not help. oil level and pressure are good also.

check for boost leaks…after owning a 91 talon TSI i found that boost leaks were my biggest problem…you’d be at WOT and hear the turbo but when at full boost wouldnt feel the usual kick…i then rigged up a boost leak tester from good ol’ lowes and found i had multiple leaks in my intercooler piping…just something to think about…hope it helps

He is building boost, so I don’t think it’s a leak. Unless the IM gasket is gone?

if the i/m gskt was leaking he would have idle issues

You can still have leaks and build boost. This is also consistant with not “feeling” the power. If there are major leaks, the turbo may still be able to build boost and show it on the boost guage, but the turbo is working extremely hard to build that much pressure and is most likely outside of it’s efficiency. I would pressure test the system and go from there.

what i was saying is that if his I/M gasket was leaking, the idle would jump up and down from 800-1500 rpm, this happens because the engine is getting unmetered air and doesnt know what to do. so it reverts into idle jumping, ive seen this a few times and the cause is a leaking intake manifold gasket, the car jerks from 0%-10% throttle violently, then smooths out. but what do i know, im just a factory trained honda technician whos been in the industry for some time.

fixed the problem, had about a 2-3 tear in one of the couplings. don’t know where it came from? but i replaced the coupling, took it for a test drive and i think i’m back in the game. :hi5: it feels good to back on the dark side. muahahaha
