manual.
mine did that, i had to rev the engine as i was letting the key back to run, then it would stay running, i changed dist. cap and rotor and fuel filter all at once, and it fixed the problem, and both needed changed bad
well i tore it all apart today and cleaned all the connections and solders and its doing the same thing. it got to where its not even cranking over. what should i replace? im on limited money and im unsure of what to get
well i got my ignition switch and it fired right up. thanx guys
I’m having a similar problem with my car. Well first let me tell you guys that the car has a new OEM Honda MFR, New Coil, New Igniter, New Fuel Filter, New car and Rotor and new plugs. Now this is my problem, the car runs fine for a long time then all of a sudden the car will shut off I would turn the ignition on and off and the car will drive fine. Now today the car started doing something new, I was driving and again the car turned off but this time the car loss all ignition. I would turn the key to turn on the ignition and I got nothing no dash lights and no power to the ecu ( I know this since I have a VAFC and it also has no power)
also the sun roof and windows have no power but my rewired fog lights do. I was finally able to get the car home by letting it sit for 10 min and it finally got ignition back, it did this two more times driving home and again the car suffered from those same symptoms those two times. Also the key in the cylinder is not stiff when in the on position you can move it left and right a bit.
if u decide to try an ignition switch, i have a few for sale.
donno if your still having issues with it, mine did the same thing, i took the ignition apart cause i noticed smoke coming from the column, and when i cracked the ignition switch open, i could see where it was burning out and causeing corrosion and such. i simply cleaned the surface and put back together for now. i know it’ll happen again, but haven’t had an issue since than, been over half a year.
he changed up the ignition switch i believe. Im sure if you just take it apart and look for the worn out part you’ll be able to fix it out having to change the ignition and having to rekey the inside or find a new key.
I believe it was the spring inside that was causing it not to stay in place. I could ask him but hes out of the country at the moment. Maybe look up the helms and see if it shows anything about taking it apart or maybe look up something on honda-tech see if anyones have similiar problems.
sorry to bring back on old thread but im having the same problem right now except i already changed out the ignition switch harness which was bad,now not its starting to turn off when i start it, it springs back from RUN to ACC. but if i hit the key to the run position it will stay on. so what im asking is can i just replace the cylinder lock? or is it the whole housing that needs replacing?
