Car shut down and wont start

I was going uphill and for some reason car began to lose power and I managed to turn into a drive way before car shut down. At first I though it ran out of gas, I put some in then tried starting but nothing I checked all fuses and battery they all seem fine. could it be the main relay or what other stuff could it be?

Turn the key and nothing happens?

well I mean it cranks but it wont turn over, sorry about that.

Fuel pump working? Can u hear it prime when you turn the key?

Turned out to be a ripped wire from the distributor, but thanks for the help

so being that I have a simular problem here is goes. I just did a motor build on my car like 2 years ago. Did a full ls vtec build for NA. Rebuilt my distributor as well as new cap and rotor. My plugs are about 3 years old but I took them off and they still look brand new. Any ways I can drive my car for days an then all the sudden I’ll turn it off and it wont start. I wait 20 min and it will start and be just fine for a few more days. It just started acting up. I have a new fuel pump that I put in it 2 years ago as well as a MFR. Do you think MFR is bad again. I can’t hear my fuel pump go at all any time but that’s probably because I have bad hearing. I am sure that the pump is fine. However not to sure about the MFR. It’s weird because today I drove about 3 miles to the gas station before work to get a drink. Turned the car off and when I went to start it, it didn’t work. I got a ride back home and took my truck. My dad then called me 1 hr later and says I drove your car home. Any advice would help… Thanks.

Could be your fuel filter I replaced mine and doesn’t turn off anymore, But it also could be your main relay. I would replace fuel filter first since its cheaper if you haven’t yet replaced it

shoot looks like I have to type it all out again. It didn’t post my post. Well any ways long story short I drove it to get dinner and was there for about 1 hr. The car started up just fine and I drove it a block away to get gas. Wouldn’t start after that. I usually can wait about 20 min and be fine but it still wouldn’t start. I got a tow home and went out of town for the weekend. I come home and it starts. I ended up replacing the main fuel relay from napa for $60 and I’ll see what that does. As far as the fuel filter I changed that a yr and a half ago when I changed the fuel pump, relay. I don’t think it could be bad already. Any ways maybe I will go and change that out this week. When I change it do I just unconect the lines from it and then screw the new one on? Do I have to prime it or anything? Do I have to worry about gas getting all over the place when I take the lines off?
Thanks

so I just took it to get some food on my break and coasted in the parking spot at work. IT DIED AGAIN!!! Is there other ground wires that I should be checking other than the main one off the motor and the thermostat housing? I just don’t know what it could be now.

not really sure what else it could be you have to find out if its electric or fuel and do some research

Yeah I am taking it to my buddies shop on my lunch.

did you find out what it was?

not yet. I dropped the car off yesterday at my buddies shop and he doesn’t get back till Thursday. I’m not sure if he is going to wait and work on it himself or if he is going to have some guy do it. I’ll post when I find out though.

I started have a similar problem as you, while driving randomly the RPM’s start dropping and I press the gas and it starts to bog down slowly until it just stalls out takes 2-3 times to turn back on and when it cuts off the battery and oil light come on. I think it could be the iacv

really interest in knowing what your problem is

So I went to the shop to check on my car. I drove it around for 1 hr and it still wont die on me now. They drove a half a tank of gas out of it trying to make it not start. Seems like it’s running like a champ. So I drove it home last night and around and it’s still fine. If it doesn’t start again I’m going to see if fuel is getting to the fuel rail.

I had an issue like this was a failing coil…

So steve what did they say was the problem so others know…

TegFan he didn’t say. It never got fixed. They drove it around and tried to get it to die and it wouldn’t. So he told me to take it home and if it dies check the fuel rail and try and start the car and if gas comes out then it’s not the pump. I really don’t know what it is. djzach - yeah all my stuff inside the distributor is 1 year old. When the car dies it has spark. So far the car hasn’t died on me sense I’ve gotten it back. people say it could be the fuel filter but I don’t see how that could be the filter.
