car wont start the normal way

okay so my car wasn’t running for a while than i started it it worked fine i drove it out of the grage than drove it back in. than turned it off nd left it … next week i tried 2 start the damn car it wont start… before i tried to start the car i pulled out my sub power cable because i took out the sub. than i tried 2 start it but it wont start… i looked at the code it gave me code 8 which is the tdc sensor. and when i look under the drive side theres this big box and the little light at the bottom of it is flashing … i duno why but it is, i read in the manual itz the transmission control modual i think … but anyways… i looked under my dash there was a bunch of wires the previouse owner put in for his car phone so itook them out… now the computer wont give out a code… i tried starting the car directly from the starter motor buy bypassing the starting circuit as the hanes manual says … and the car starts… so can some one tell me wat i can do … other than buying a new desriputer … and if it is… anyone selling one for 1991 gs ???

thanks in advance

:werd: Time to start praying. or take it to a reputable tech. Way too much carniverous action on this rig.:werd:

comon … ne one … ??? plz help

The little flashing box is the Transmission Control Module, the flashes indicate a code. Also, have you tried to reset the ECU?

o no i haven’t reseted the ecu i will do that right now… nd the transmission module gives a code 2 ? -

I don’t know the codes off the top of my head, but a search will turn them up.

okay so the computer under the passenger side doesn’t give any codes anymore… but the transmission control modual give me these codes … it flases a 2 than a 3 than 7 than 8 than 1 … they all flash at the same speed

can u post a pic of the tranny module? cuzz i ripped a large unit from under my seat out when i was stripping my car cuzz i didnt know wtf it was for. when i cut the wire nothing happend to my car but im still wondering.

My CD changer is under the seat… The TCM is under the dash. It’s only there if you have an auto.

Is your S4 light flashing?

no itz not flashing

The TCM is there too if you’ve converted to stick so you can start the car by bypassing the P and N switches on the shifter harness.:read:

okay anyone wana help me … since i was the one 2 start this thread… as i was saying i can start the car by jumping the starter… but is that a bad thing ??? like does it do any damage when u start the car by jumping the starter

have you tried replacing the ignition switch? its pretty easy to do. and for the record, have you READ any of the posts, i believe they are trying to help you.

um… is there an easy test to find if the starting system is at fault or the distributor

thanks

For criminy sakes alive! Could you please tell us what your middle name, age, color of shoes and favorite beverage along with what trans we talking about?
Sheesh, if its a stick, then its your ignition switch or the starter relay attached to the ignition switchs ass end or the wiring.:read:
If its an auto, then your looking at the ignition switch again:werd: or the shifter switch that controls the indicator on the instrument cluster, might be broke, dirty, thirsty for beer or the cable to the trans needs adjustment. Then there’s the brake light switch. Sometimes mine won’t start unless my foot is on the brake:dozing:
Try jiggling the shifter when you try starting and make sure the damn red “P” light is on .
Most of all lets us write a novel for you:umno:

lol hahahhaa many ur funnii i gota give u that … um… but anyways… the car is in park i’m sure of that… my question is how do i test the ignition switch, i don’t wanna waste ma money on a distributor and than it wont work

Maybe nobody mentioned to you that there’s an electrical forum.

o okay… but ma question still is will it damage my engine if i start the car by connecting a wire from the starter motor to the battery ???

No:salute:
