I am working out a limited run of Carbon Fiber Hiro Replica Spoilers with JDP Engineering. They are currently reproducing a Hiro wing for a customer and will be using this wing for their new mold. If you have ever owned any JDP products, then you know that the quality is top notch.
The run will be limited to 10. Please reply if you are interested and email me with your contact info (jcamadeco@gmail.com). Availability is first come, first serve. Once the list of ten has been reached, you will be required to pay a $100 non refundable deposit directly to JDP.
Yes, it is cheaper than buying an original wing. Carbon Fiber made by JDP, you can’t go wrong for $300. Please email me and I will add you to the list.
Personally I own a rep of a rep purchased not too long ago and people wanted me to make reps but I said no, because I know how rare the real hiro wing is as well as the pancake racing wing is and I don’t want to take more away from it (since I kinda did already) I still want one of those two. I’m with wingbox and idk after seeing this I might get rid of mine. Just my 2 cents.
I want a hiro or hiro style wing pretty bad but expensive parts are expensive and even saving up to get one, i cant justify 600+ to own one. This is a great alternative for those of us who cant rationalize that kind of money on a non gt wing.
most importantly, it will lower the rarity of hiro wings completely!
Too many replicas out there.
I don’t think it degrades the value or appeal of the original wings at all. If anything I envy the people who have them and you should be proud. Keep in mind we’re only talking 10 here guys. Even after this run there will be less then 30 ever made and the chances of JDP making more after this run are slim to nil. As far as I am concerned there is a Hiro, a Pancake and a JDP Carbon Rep wing. It’s Apples to Oranges. The Hiro and Pancake are legendary parts. JDP’s replica’s will have it’s own place in time just like the others but it’s a cheaper alternative and gives you the option of carbon (which I prefer). The other thing is that JDP makes nothing but quality, if any one is to pay a proper tribute to the Hiro wing in Carbon it’s JDP. I am fully aware of the drama and lengthy discussions that the Hiro wings have brought about. I’ve been on G2ic for over ten years so I’m familiar with the controversy around this wing. I also have been looking for one for my DA for the last 7 years or so and I just can’t justify spending 600+ on a wing. I also live on the East Coast and I have literally NEVER seen one in the flesh. Anyone who thinks they should remove their wing because 10 more are being made should get out more. It’s one of the best looking visual mods for a DA. Now, if these copies start popping up as 'ebay" reps I agree that we have an issue.
Couldn’t have said it better myself. I like the idea of CF… Tempting. Any idea on how they will mount up? I would definitely rather have studs and nuts over 3m tape.
Thanks for reminding me, I wanted to inquire about this as well. Will these include the mounting hardware?
Dillon, the original Hiro does not use double stick tape, it uses a clamp style hardware which clamps the wing to the deck of the hatch. Seems to work just fine, even on actual race cars. Personally I would prefer this over studs because studs require drilling holes and with the clamp style hardware you can easily remove the wing and go back to wingless anytime you like without leaving any holes.
Now I absolutely love the Hiro wings, and I did not have a chance to buy 1 out the 10 made from the last batch from JDP because they were $600+ after shipping. However, they should stay exclusive so that everyone and their mother isnt running around with one on their DA, and may or may not even know the history behind the wing itself lol. I have a few questions. How would JDP be making this next set of 10 spoilers at almost half the price of the last batch? Are they making these thinner? Lower grade carbon fiber? Less coats of clear. It just sounds unusual to me because thats a major price drop. Quality isnt cheap, if time is taken to make something right/genuine. Also, will you be making the mounting hardware to go along with these? From what I remember, JDP agreed to do a limited run of 10 on these, so now they are going back on their word? How can we trust them to make the same quality wing as the last, ship it safely, and only make another 10 more (lol) if they cant keep their word. Please explain. Also why is their website no longer working??
