Today i had the opportunity to measure the lengths of both a 90-91 cat and a 92-93 cat…turns out its true that they are different lengths:
90-91: 16 5/8"
92-93: 17 11/16"
These measurements were taken from flange to flange (so from where the cat meets the downpipe to where it meets the b-pipe). Other than the length the construction looked basically the same. The flange styles were the same, so the length is the only thing that keeps them from being interchangable.
Why am i posting this you might ask? Well, its because the differing lengths of the exhaust system on different year G2’s. The 90-91 header is longer than the 92-93 header, the 90-91 cat is shorter than the 92-93 cat, and the 90-91 exhaust is shorter than the 92-93 exhaust. This means that if put a 92-93 header on your 90-91 teg simply getting a 92-93 exhaust will not make up the full length, you would also need a 92-93 cat.
ok so if i have a 90 ls and have a header for 92-93 all i need to do is get a o2 sensor extension wire and make an extension that is (17 3/4 - 16 5/8) long? i can get someone to weld
the diameter of the smallest part of the neck? i figure its the same as the rest of the piping, which is like 1-5/8" or so. why do you need it anyways?
Thanks, I thought it was just slightly less than 2".
Anyway I needed to know what size pipe to buy so I can run a sleeeve throug mine. Here in VA we have a visual inspection but no “sniffer” test.
so that’s why 92-93 integra are much more powerful than the 90 -91??..right…will the 90-91 integra will be same horsepower if it has the 92-93 cat…cuzz i had a 92 dc head and that probably why i need the 92 cat too then…

No! that is not why the 92-93 makes a bit more hp than 90-91. search on the hp differences between 90-91 and 92-93 and you’ll find out what is involved in the different hp output.
alright heres a question for yall, cuz im still confused, are the cat back exhausts for 90-91 and 92-93 the same lenghts, meaning the stop at the same spot on both models and the cat back begins…?
i know this reply is a little late but yes the cat backs are the same for 90-91 and 92-93…check on the greddy website for the catback systems and the part #'s are the same…only difference and explained above is the actual exhaust manifold and cat length between a 90-91 and 92-93
no, no, no, no… the 90-91 and 92-93 are NOT the same length. If you would have read what I wrote then this would be evident, all three pieces are different lengths. The reason why greddy’s part number is the same is because they are the same… except if you want to put that exhaust on a 92-93 you have to buy an adapter, like XDEep mentioned. w/o the adapter it will not fit.
so correct me if im wrong if i put a 93 exhaust on my 90 i should go with the 93 header 93 cat and 93 back or can i go 90 header 93 cat 93 back. and if i go all 93 where do i find the extention wire for the o2 sensor and can i get a list of mods that need to be done to make this happen ( or does it just bolt right up).
So if I go buy my RSR exmag exhaust, it will not fit my 92GSR, it will be too short? Will it come with an adapter, or do I send an Email, or take it to the shop and weld in a lenth of pipe?
I’m assuming a 92GSR catback is the same length as a 92LS catback right?
