Hi guys, Im running a .42/.48 turbo at 7.25 psi. Right now i got some rigged radiator hoses for charge pipe. Im getting metal charge pipe soon. I was wondering which size to get, 2inch or 2.5inch diameter. its a small turbo so im guessing 2inch. but whats the experts say?
2.25" is a good diameter, especially for a low boost, small turbo, 2" is sometimes too small, although someone will come in here and bash all over that statement but hey i dont know what im talking about…HTH
thanks, what size are you running
2.25" its a nice size to work with too when putting it all together
I will be using a t3/t4. The compressor piping will be 2.00 and the rest is 2.25. The last straight peice is 2.5. later down the road ill swicth it over to 2.5.
u dont need anything bigger then your throttle body
i am running 2.5 from turbo to intercooler and 3 from the intercooler to TB, w/ a t3t4.
i am also going w/ a t3 .42/.48 and i am using 2" all the way through. remember, the larger the diameter, the longer it’s takes to pressurize. i believe the turbo guide says that 2-2.25 is good up to like 400 hp.
I ran 2.5" into a 3" CAI without any problems or apparent lag added by the charge pipe size. I wouldnt go any smaller than 2.25" with ANY turbo I put on a DA.
how the hell u ghetto rigged radiator hoses for boost?
rad hoses with the right bends. i wouldn’t recommend it.
…rad hose…wtf…
i have all 2.5 inch charge piping. When making it try to make as little couplers as possible. That is how i did it at least, maybe that is just my idea, who knows
^I think its a good idea. Less couplers= less getting out of your car after boosting to put them back on. I’m going to build mine with as few as possible.
ill be going with
2.5 upper
2.0 lower
2.5 all around, id rather have room to build more power than have a 2.0" pipe holding me back… just a thought think ahead
