christmas present to myself! swappp
You people really get offended easily lol.

I am running a knock sensor on my motor. Not to say I’m running the stock head, nor the stock harness and ECU. So therefore, my knock sensor goes with my harness and my ecu.

I didn’t mention the vtec part. I told Acura non-vtec, but either he was an idiot (which is more likely), or thought I was an idiot because I didn’t catch my mistake, and just ordered me the correct part.

So yes ladies, I do have a knock sensor on my B18B. No reason why the OP might not “possibly” have one too, as it’s not impossible to put in there. I think the thread pitch is the same for knock, oil temp, oil pres, coolant temp, and fan switch.
theres a lot of misinformed people spreading wrong information on these forums…

Under your same reasoning that “No reason why the OP might not “possibly” have one too, as it’s not impossible to put in there.” It is also just as possible that he has a baseball in his crankcase “as its not impossible to put in there.”

well, aside from what is going on between members.

Yesterday morning I was able to put the clutch, pressure plate, tranny, and the oil switch on the block.

The engine is in, i have the passenger side axel on, the driver side half shaft is still off.
i have both tranny and torque mount on, just need to put the rear L bracket on, shift linkage and fluids in. Then the engine is ready for priming then ignition and hope it runs. =]]

no updated pictures, havnt had the chance. But its my day off, so ill try to have some pictures up.

Anyone here use Royal Purple engine oil for their cars?

-karlo

Yep. I use it in my JDM B18b. Also use it in my girls scion tc. Along with K&N oil filters. Been using that stuff for a couple years now. stuff.

oh okay, because my cousin was telling me that it was one of the lowest rating oils for protecting your engine against wear and tear.

Hes on the 350z forums and there is this research facility he was telling me about somewhere in arizona(?) Members sent their used oil to this facility and they did the testing.

royal purple had high amounts of aluminum, iron, and some other metals that the 350z engine consists of.
Castrol, mobil, motul, and some various others rated pretty high in protecting the engine.

now, i dont know if this is the same for honda engines, but im kind of giving royal purple second thoughts.
although i have 4 quarts in my garage ready for use, but on my next oil change im going with mobil or castrol full synthetic.
There is no knock sensor on B18A/B’s. Look at this thread

he is rite there is never ever a knock sensor in the jdm/usdm b18a1/b1.but now if your talking about the usdm/jdm b20 now they do come with knock sensor.

Not saying what you heard as not being true, but unless I sent the stuff there or have a very reliable friend that showed the paperwork results to me in person I am going to guess it is just hear say, especially on a forum. There is so much mis-information in forums. It is possible though, and if you find the link post it up. I am interested in reading it over and researching the place that they sent it too. I wrote a college paper on the differences in Synthetic oil and dino oil a couple of years back.

Some gewhiz info, but alot of the labs that make the oil told the companies that sell it, that after testing, most of the oils were still good at 20k miles in normal driving and that most needed to be changed at right around 25K. They were saying though it takes a clean motor to be able to do that though. Not some 100k+ motor that has been run with dino oil in it because with the detergents in the synthetic oil, it breaks down the sludge and grime and in turn, clogs the oil filter up, which limits the 25k rating. But most oil companies dont want the general public to know this, because of people are not spending $9 a quart every 3-5k they are losing ALOT of money on consumer knowledge.

Same example is BEST BUY selling HDMI cables for $50 plus when you get the same thing on computer sites for $5. Non-informered consumers get suckered in all the time on making stupid purchases.

I was running Royal Purple in both of my Integra’s with no complaints. I recently switched over to Castrol Edge as it is designed for smaller engines. I noticed a difference in the smoothness of the motor in the sedan but not in the coupe…

Not sure if there is really a difference…but as far as Royal Purple goes…ive been using it for years and loved it!

Research Castrol Edge as a comparison, apparently it’s better but this is coming from an engine builder friend of mine whom I trust!

well, sorry for no pictures.
But i finished the swap thursday night around 11pm.

Car is running fine, pulls nice and hard. Runs smooth, no ticking, knocking, no check lights, etc.

only problem with the engine is a very minute water pump leak, i will call the import shop and ask them for a new water pump or something of that matter, since the engine came like that.

Now time to rebuild the B18a, plans for it is either build it for boost or just rebuild it and throw it in a shell for a daily driver.

thanks for supporting and viewing this thread.

good to hear it all went down without a hitch:up:

So, I have 1 question here.

Im putting a 1998 b18b1 in a 1990 DA

What do I need, to put the b18b1 in my da. I have all the components from the b18a1 like the starter, distributor, intake mani, exhaust make, alternator.

Do I need that sensor in the back of the b18b1 from my a1

yes, that should be all u need. your old accessories should be switched over. I would leave the b1 intake manifold though…

i think you’d need your b18a injectors aswell. since the plugs are for obd2 from the b18b, so if your going to keep the b18b manifold use your obd0 injectors.

+1…your b1 injectors are obd2

BUT they also came obd1 too

Correct, but he mentioned that his motor was a 1998…
