Cleared Stock 90-91 Taillights PICS FINALLY

only the 90-91’s have the pink lines to sand out and i believe their on the inside after you separate them…

hey here’s another idea for the clear part. When my buddy owned his 97 Nissan Maxima they used light covers. You know what i’m talking about if you work in a building look up at the flourecent light fixtures they have this scratchy clear cover on them.

I used a long and deep oven pans like you cook you turkey in.

1 filled it with water and but on a stove to get really hot
2 but the taillight in the really hot water to sofin the glue you only need the water to cover the part with the glue.
3 what a min or 2 and take it out wearing gloves becouse there gong to be warm…
4 start seperating the glue from the the rest of the box.
5 Keep doing that and going back to the hot water to keep softing the glue and it will come off be careful TAKE YOUR TIME its going to take some time.
6 this will not worp your taillights like the oven will if you dont know what you are doing.
7 then do the rest of what they say on the rest of the threads to clear out the plastic and clean the taillight before you put it back in you can use a hair drier to but it back to getther.
8 I useed the water and dried the in the oven for a min or 2… it came out great but remeber to take your time…

lots of typo, but great info hehe

well damn, i want my tails to look like the cleared 92-93s, but i have a 90 sedan and i can’t swap for 92-93s… what can i do???

Hey i have a set of 90-91 tails stock, i’d like to amber teh blinker portion of the light but not like the 92-93 amber where the pink is still present im talkin like AMBER. any ideas?

k so i just cleared my 91’s last night and i have some suggestions. After fucking them up trying to do this i realized that first off 200 degrees is really cold. I had mine in at bout 260 and they still were hard as fuck to pry apart without damaging them severely. Second is Definitly take your time on this. DO NOT RUSH. if you pry just wrong your lenses will crack. I changed this round on the second light, 300 degress for bout 15 min should turn that evil glue to liquid. The lenses should fall RIGHT apart. no problem. Just make sure there in water so they dont melt. and WATCH that oven. if you dont feel comfortable with such a high heat then stick to moving them itty bitty amounts at a time and continue to place them back in the oven. Mine didn’t melt at all however. The kicker was a crap load of silicone dripped in them so they look like shit.

hey i have those carbon fiber halo’s that you like so much, i’ll sell them to you($50?+shipping) i had them on my car for a month or so, then decided to go back to stock. they fit perfectly, which is pretty surprising for aftermarket.

hit me up if you want them. email:

oh, wow that post was from June, didn’t see that. :vomit:

haha yea, I dont want the “altezzas” just said the looked sweet but Im not ricing my ride out

to get mine clear all i did was take the tail light out of my car, poured bleach in the socket holes and then boiled some water. poured boiling water in, swished it around and this is how they look!

I know this is an old thread, but I think that down hill dog’s method of clearing the taillights is great considering the amount of time and effort it takes. I’m pretty sure it is a lot faster and easier than prying apart the taillights. My .02

id say buy a heat gun instead of use the over since you have more control of the area being heated. the piece that has the red lines on it can easily be taken out if you dont care about breaking it since you wont need it anyways. i took the clear reflector out of my third brake light mounting so my lights are brighter. i also cleared my bumper lenses as well. ive taken my rear lights out but didnt take the piece out since the dealership near me didnt have the new gasket in stock. im going to wait until june to clear them. i have blue bulbs for the rear turn signals so itll look sweet when im done

This is an older thread I know. Well, I have my tail lights apart and didn’t do it the correct way. I didn’t know that when you sanded down too much the lines turn black. Anyways, I didn’t like that so now I took all the lines off and they are clear. MY QUESTION IS: IS THERE A WAY TO PAINT THE LENSES TO GET THE WHITE-OUT EFFECT USING A CAN OF FROSTED GLASS SPRAY PAINT?? I still need the lights to shine through whatever I apply to the lense. I thought about a very light coat of white spray paint and spray it from a long distance so I just get speckles, but don’t think that will work. I also thought about just using a 600 grit sand paper to blur it out rather then having it clear. Any ideas how to fix this problem??

yes!!! this just made my day! lol im doin it as soon as i get my car back, ill post my feedback
