Ok I dont know if anyone has posted this or not but i am going to post it just in case. This is how to install a clutch kill switch in addition to any other security devices you have.
Parts needed
Toggle switch
wire strippers
butt connectors or any type of connector
phillips head screwdriver
wire cutter
You should know where you will need each tool
take off the driverside knee panel.(easier to work under the dash)
Locate the clutch pedal assembly.
You will see 2 sensors on the clutch pedal. You need to focus on the top sensor.
remove the wire loom from the wires of the top sensor and you will see 2 wires.
you want to cut the wire that is black and blue and then strip each side at least half an inch.
Get some type of wire(i used speaker wire)and extend the two sides of the black and blue wire to be long enough to reach where you want you toggle switch.(make sure its hidden)
7.after you have the wires extended and you have the location of the switch you are using connect one wire to the #1 slot on the toggle switch then the other wire to the #2 slot on the toggle switch.
Make sure you dont have any bare wires showing anywhere on this project.
once done with all these steps, put everything back together and youre done.
when the toggle switch is off, you will not be able to crank the car because the car thinks the clutch is not pushed down.
make sure when you want to crank it though that you have the switch in the on position.
yeah i had never thought of it until today when i did the fuel pump kill switch and i thought hey what about trying a clutch kill switch too…it works really well…same as the fuel pump kill swithc but it makes it where it wont crank at all with the clutch kill switch
Thats a great idea, but if the clutch has to be in when you crank the car, why can i start my car with the clutch out when its in neutral? Does this apply to all DA’s or only ones with hydro clutches??
if its a stock g2 tranny cable clutch the clutch has to be pushed in no matter what to crank the car. but with the clutch kill switch turned off, its like the clutch is not pushed…therefore, car wont start if the kill switch is turned off
ever since the late 80s i believe all cars its a safty feature…its to make sure some one is in the driver seat and thqat the car is in neutral…its called neutral safty switch
reason y you are able to start your car with with out holding down the clutch is cuz someone bypassed (clutch bypass) that switch. main reason y people do this is to put auto start in their manual cars…shops will not do this (by law they are not allowed to install auto start into manual cars.) another reasony y they might have bypassed that switch is because they did an auto to manual conversion and didnt want to get that switch. im thinking it was left out when the hydro tranny was swapped out cuz you need a hydro clutch pedal when doing that swap
so with this even if the clutch is depressed with out the switch on it will just be like its off? good idea…this kill switch will make it so that they dont smoke your starter.
Great idea, but you HAVE to add an inline fuse. Basically you just add it onto the power wire. This way, if you have a prob; the fuse will blow and not ur sensors, fuel pump, etc. Besides, it only costs like $3 more.
Yea my friend got that on his GTS and the way to start the car is to press the clutch at an exact angle so it starts if you press it too much it wont start…
Sure and people can tow the car too if you put it that way, but this is just another preventive step and not a cure all for all the thief in the world. :blah:
All right I did it for the Fuel Pump Relay Kill Switch article and got a good response so Im going to do it here.
Can someone post some pics of what I am actually looking for. I see a white plug with two or three wires coming from it, are these the wires im looking for?
Yeah not hard to push start it with an alarm going off in a parking lot. Just take your time and push it in the open out of its parking place nobody will notice.
… But if you had the fuel pump kill switch and the clutch kill switch and an alarm with a starter kill switch it would be pretty hard to find all those switched and get the car.
This is why I am interested in the clutch kill switch so … BUMP 4 Knowledge:gunright:
Use all that shit. Layering is the key. The more shit, the better.
If you have a bunch of stuff compounded, then who’s gonna want to screw w/ all that when there’s another car down the way that doesn’t even have The Club!
:getsome: :manual:
i made a clutch kill switch as well as a brake light kill switch for those late night runs. i like the clutch kill switch because even when girls figure out how to start your car they wont be able to. i wired the clutch kill switch to the left turn signal so all i have to do is “accidentally” bump the turn signal and then start my car. for the brake light kill switch i didnt cut the brake wires by the pedal since they go to the abs unit. instead i took the power wires under the car that run to the rear lights so i can turn all of them off. the switch is below my parking brake so its an easy feel and flip.
