code 3 with missing link, help!

I have a 93 with a b20b engine. I am currently running 8 pounds of boost with the missing link and I am still getting a cel (code 3, map sensor). I was able to get my car tuned with this cel on, and ended up pulling out 228 whp with the afc hack. The thing that sucks is my car runs like crap when it is not in boost. Anyone have any ideas?

Why are you using a Missing Link and the AFC Hack? :bang:

what would you recomend using? why not use the missing link? the only reason i wouldn’t use the missing link is if i had hondata and a 3 bar.

You dont use the two in combination. Either FMU & Missing Link or AFC Hack…

And like someone posted in your Honda-Tech thread…you probably have the missing link in backwards :bang:

Read the turbo guide…

The missing link blocks the MAP from sensing positive pressure.

The AFC hack reduces the voltage on the MAP sensor signal to the ECU tricking the ECU into thinking there is less pressure than there actually is.

If you are using both a missing link and the AFC you are probably lowering the MAP sensor signal so low that it is out of the proper voltage range and so it causes the ECU to throw a code.

What size injectors do you have?

i have inline pro 440’s. without the missing link, the voltage was lowered to 2.8. i didn’t get a chance to check what the voltage was when it was hooked up. i left the missing link off and i still get code 3. i also replaced the map sensor with a working map sensor and i get the same exact thing. i am completely lost.

Do this, without AFC installed get a MAP sensor voltage reading at idle. With the AFC installed get a MAP sensor voltage reading at idle. If the voltage reading you got with the AFC installed is not the percentage correction you have the AFC set to compared to the MAP voltage without the AFC then you have a fried AFC or it’s not installed/set correctly.

I had this same problem. I would get a CEL 3 and it turned out I wasn’t getting the % correction I had the AFC set to. The AFC was fried from a poor install by Atomic Performance aka Inport Builders. I ended up having to build my own AFC.

I found out that the afc is fried. The install wasn’t the issue, the issue was that it was a used unit. Whoever owned it previously dicked me out of a $150. I appreciate everyone’s help, and hopefully I will be able to post some dyno charts when I get the hondata in.

With afc: 8.5 lbs= 229 whp, 209 lb ft. tq. (running rich as hell)

Thanks again!
