does this seem normal? i rebuilt the bottom end about 30 kms ago with arias pistons, eagle rods and new bearings… i was told the pistons were 9:1 cr… from looking around i think this is a bit low and should there be any variance between the numbers with a fresh motor?
i think that you’re right but wondering from anyone that has built a motor if it needs more time to get more accurate results?
the first test i did was when the motor was started for the first time and the results were 170 across the board. this test was done about 30 kms in or 15-20 miles… it’s got me kinda worried… need some engine gurus in here!! thanks
that’s good to hear… im actually already boosted but have a couple issues to take care of… anybody else have input on these comp test results? the only weird thing to me is that the comp has lowered since the first time i checked…
your compression is fine. only 30kms ago? your good. mine are at 150 across. it’s all on pistons and assembly and time. you gotta give those rings time to fully seat. your good.
i also noticed a ticking or slight knocking noise coming from the driverside of the motor… seems to be a bit higher possibly in the head… i just did a valve lash adjustment and it didnt solve anything… any ideas… ill try to get a vid up in the next couple days

^^^check inside the distributor may be the rotor is loose and is causing that ticking noise…thats just one of my experiences…not sure
I’ve had the “slight ticking/knocking noise coming from the drive side of the motor” 3 times now and each time it was a spun rod bearing. Each time I did the normal trouble shooting steps by adjusting the valves lash, check the injectors, distributor and eventually had to drop the oil pan only to find, a broken oil squirter laying in the oil pan.
The 1st time it was a wrist pin lock. the 2nd time it was the oil squirter and the 3rd time it was me missing a 2nd to 3rd power shift while spring a 75 shot.
Let us know what the ticking/knocking noise is when you figure it out.
edit: the ticking in my case was coming from the driverside next to the cam gears.
Additionally, it sounded like it was coming from the top of the engine.
ill be pulling my oil pan in the next couple days… how do i check the rod bearings to rule them out without pulling the motor? what should the bearing look like or not look like? i sure hope it isnt the wrist pin clips, because i remember they were giving me some trouble when installing them… if it is the bearing, can i replace it without pulling the motor? or can i only access the bottom half…
