well as soon as the suspension/brake setup is done im going to start buying for my turbo setup. im lookin atturbos and decied to go with a T3/TO4E Garrett unit. i was originally lookin at the 50trim .63 . i asked a few people and was told the 57trim isa little better as it has more hit once it hits full boost, but the 50 hits boost quicker. and that the .48 may run out up top, while the .63 is gonna keep going. im shooting for a est. 300hp give or take. what are your guys toughts?
id also like to hit boost as quickly as possible maybe in the 3000 to 3500 rpm range?
After all the research I’ve done, I’m going with a 57 trim t3/t4 I only want the car to boost to about 7k rpms, with boost as early as possible, and apparently that’s the ticket. I think it will fit your needs as well.
Any of the Garrett hybrid T3/T4 turbos will push more than 300hp, if you want the best streetable turbo, with quick spool go with 50 trim, it’s not gonna die out up top either.
i agree anything around 50 trim is perfect for an ls
i have a t3 50 trim and it spools way to quick. I hate it, i go up a hill and i tip into boost. Personally i am getting a bigger turbo actually this weekend, Turbonectics t3/t04e 60/63 w/ stage5 wheel!!! damn big for an ls but i dont give a shit if i hit at 5k, as long as i do a burnout in second!!!
If we are talking a stock LS motor…
The .48 A/R 50 trim will spool faster but will be a little harder to reach your goals. With a good tune on a stock LS your looking at 12-14psi which wont be 300hp on a 50 trim. This is a good well rounded setup and what I would consider a perfect match for an LS though. If you wanted to spend $$ on head work you could get pretty close to your goals as well with this turbo.
The .48 A/R 57 trim will get you closer to 300hp but will spool around 500rpm later.
BTW, any .63 A/R turbo is going to be too big for your goals and will be laggy.
