cost of your turbo setup

well as some of you know, my car was stolen, but i was lucky enough to have some of the parts recovered, new to the turbo scene,thinking about to go turbo. so just wondering if i can get avarage cost of most of your setups

Old school HKS blow off valve mounted on a piece of 2.5" aluminum piping $125.00

This doesn’t include all the little odds and ends, tools, screws and bolts that kept me running to the hardware store.

I had a custom kit built for my car… The kit was $4500 installed… I made 419WHP on my forged B16. I’ve never had a problem though and glad I went with the setup that I have.

I like that idea but not sure about the price, everyone around here is building their own so thats the path I’m kinda getting pushed down but I would love to drop it off somewhere and pick it up a week later boosted baby!!!

6 grand is a lot, your power goal and reliability must be very high or you must have a really shiny engine compartment. :]

my setup is good for around 450whp. everything new. my gt2871r alone cost me 1200$cnd. custom intercooler piping 400, custom downpipe 300, custom exhaust 420, custom ram horn 400, custom everything basically. all oem honda gaskets and what not. wideband, fuel pressure, oil pressure, boost gauges. chiped ecu on crome and dyno tuned. it adds up pretty quick. im the kind of person who likes to get quality and new parts.

in reality, 6 grand isnt a lot for a custom setup. its just that there are so many setups for 1500-2000 that are low boost/unreliable/untuned with used parts that you get used to the low cost home made setups.

also the fact i live in canada everything is like 5x more expensive it seems even tho the cnd and us dollar are pretty equal.

redtegra, it seems that you have one sick ass setup there, any pics?
I know you mentioned that your setup is good for 450whp, how much power are you making now?
I understand your points but have to endorse the fact that a reliable low to medium hp turbo setup can be had for around 2 grand. On the same token, I respect the fact that your setup was the way you wanted it regardless of the expense.
You did remind me of a few other things I forgot to mention, like the AEM Wideband, Autometer Oil pressure, boost and EGT w/probe and wire. I already have a Hondata equipped P61.
Those things add up to around 300 bucks. (all used)

in two weeks ill be able to answer your question. right now its sitting waiting to hit the dyno. ill be tuning for around 300whp. reason why is because im running a stock b18a. once i get forged pistons/rods, then ill bring it up to around 400whp and we’ll see where it goes after that. ill take pics then and post them up.:hi5:

also to clarify, i didnt mean that you cant have a reliable setup for around 2000$, i was saying its either one of the three. i wasnt very clear there.

wow everyone has all diff prices from like 1500 - 4500 i was told to put in a turbo in these cars id probably only have to drop a grand but looks like thats not happening

It’s possible to get the majority of the pieces for a grand used of course.
A friend once told me that turbo kits are whores, they go from one engine to another.
Then that engine blows up, the turbo kit is up for sale and on to the next engine.

ha funny and true…yeah i like the third one best this summer ima try and make about 3300 and buy everything i wanted for a while then take a rest adn ill probably really need 4000 for all the labor if i dont do
