Cracked pistons

I’ve searched the site already and I couldn’t find an answer. I’m buying a 91 integra with a b20 vtec turbo. Im not really sure about the spec’s of the turbo but I know its a bmf. The previous owner cracked all the pistons due to some unknown reason to me… he had arias pistons before but now replaced it with stock ones. What could have been the reason for the pistons to go out in the first place. The motor is pretty well built with itr intake manifold titanium valves and retainers itr cam shafts balanced crank and connecting rods, along with an MSD system and upgraded fuel system… Any opinions please help…

DETONATION!

:owned:

I know its a stupid question but what causes DETONATION??? ive search on here and i couldnt find out

a whole bunch of air and not enough fuel, the hot gasses from the previous explosion pre ignite the new cycle before its ready and kablamo good bye motor

Ahhhhh> I see so then I should up the fuel or get rid of the turbo to save the engine the second time around… Thanks for the advice!

getting rid of the turbo sure may help, but since you have it, why dont you just tune you setup and take advantage of your investment ! ?

yeah. to far advanced timing would do the trick also. Big advice to you…if your going turbo…tune it. Dont half ass a turbo setup. you will pay in the short run
