Create truly glossy ambery oemy looky bumper lightsy! (amber turn signals paint)

mmm weird… mine are OEM and they are heat welded together.

i guess if u are doing all the work to polish the fronts… might as well paint them too.

Dude! Those look sweet man! Im just wondering, How much would you charge if you buy a new set of clear bumper lights from ebay, paint them and ship them to me? I have no time to do them my self. I work Toooo much. Let me know bro.

Thanks

I did mine up 2 days ago.

was really easy… took maybe 2 hours total.

i bought krylon yellow stained glass spray paint and an epoxy clear coat.

I used a 600 grit on the lights till smooth…

then i just held the light in my hand (in a glove) and sprayed each light about 8-9 coats till it got the orange look i wanted.

then i gave it another scuff with the 600 grit and then shot like 4 coats of clear on it. it dried in less than 30 min and then i slapped them back on.

personally i think the wax and polish step is not needed… the cleat coat on mine is like glass and if it gets messed up its easy to pull off and re-coat.

Perfectly said and done. After I did my lights I find this thread. I didnt quite do it like this but similar to it and it came out pretty clean. Instead of adding the clear coat i smoked mine kinda a darkish amber color.

yicng’s car is a 91, the 90-91 bumper lights has any extra screw that holds the back to lense, the 92-93 lights only have 1 screw and are “glued” together or something. hope that helps some people.

this tip has been very helpfull
heres how mine turned out.

Just did mine, oh my god they look GOOD! THANK YOU!

I would post pictures but I have no camera.

Hey do you think I could do this with a clear black(4 that darth vader look). Let me know what you think. All of you guys lights r of the chain. :fucksuvs:

hi, since i cant find those kinds of paint no where around here, the krylon interior, exterior paint says it can paint glass and plastic, but would it be clear looking after? say if i did it like this:sand lights with 800 then paint with the krylon interior, exterior, sand again with 1000 grit, then put a clear coat on it? would that look good

Yes they would. I would highly recommend some kind of clearcoat though. I’ve seen a lot of krylon’d lights recently - they actually look good. The buffing process is the real deal to making the lights look OEM.

what does wet sanding mean, like putting water on the lights when sanding?

ya, water with “wetsand” sandpaper. the paper doesnt fall apart when wet like regular sandpaper would.

ok thanks, and btw Xdep i seen you on irc what chan do you hang on irc? im usually in honda with the nick ceeshine

where did you see me? haha ive been banned from #honda ages ago. we rubes hang out in #honda-perf. enter at your own risk heh.

what type of clear coat would i use if i used the krylon interior, exterior paint? will any clear coat do?

I believe any enamel clearcoat will work…just stick with the krylon clearcoat. should be fine…

Anyone done this one the tails yet? Id like to see how it’d look when done over the yellow and red back there (like with black or something). Just wondering if it would look better than the other metohds for coloring tails.

I’m thinking about it…

so far I’ve done

-sidemarkers
-bumpers
-corners

What color? Black?? :gotpics:

Amber…Maybe black

I’m thinking of some ideas for designs on the tails… I’ll PS some on my day off…

Pics of what’s done so far are in the “gina’s 8 AM photoshoot” thread in GD
