well i’ve searched but nothing really answered my question.
if i was to run turbo in my b17 stock internals, is it better to run my stock cams or get some ctr or itr cams?
i just want as much power as i can on stock internals.
i know someone selling ctr cams for $300 does it sound right.
I was under the impression that GSR cams are the best for turbo. itr and ctr cams are more aggressive on the intake side and the gsr are the best exhaust cam being open the most. Sorry if i didnt word that right. I’m not rocket scientist. Someone clarify this for him. I think im on track.
the ctr intake cam has 2deg. more duration than the itr cam. the exhaust lobes are the same. When it comes to cams in turbo honda’s it all has to do with how high your revving. ctr cams like to make power to 9k+, while gsr cams like to make power to 8k. it really depends on your turbo and you engine setup. big turbo + built gsr = 10k rpms, a small turbo + a stock gsr = 8krpms.
With all else remaining equal, Boosted-Hybrid swears the B16 cams are the way to go when dialed in properly using cam gears. I def trust him on things of this nature.
I will be going with GSR cams in my LS/Vtec winter build because, thats what the head came with.
2001 itr cams are the same specs as the ctr cams afaik. i would go with them if possible. from everything ive seen, the heirarchy of vtec cams is as follows ctr/01itr>itr>gsr>b16.
NOT TRUE. I have seen 50+whp gains, going from GSR cams to a jun stage2 intake cam and a skunk2 stage 1 exhaust. for Bigger cams to make good power, they need to be ran with bigger turbo’s and higher revs(8.5-9k+ depending on displacement).
